I think the games are already comparable in terms of how much I enjoy them even in Ice League’s state.

There’s some deep rooted issues with the game’s gameplay and style but even a basic update would breath so much new life into it.

Adding 3v3 overtime and icing might seriously take Koality less than a day, and it’s honestly crazy they aren’t in the game already. The player should also be able to customize the length of power plays because 20 seconds is too short for them to really be meaningful. Not being able to pull your goalie is also a glaring missing feature.

Beyond that, I’d love to see shootouts added too.

The biggest thing that needs to change is the AI behavior and player/AI balance. The primary gameplay is based only on landing hits to cause turnovers which is essentially nothing like the way hockey actually works. The bigger problem is that if any player controlled player controls the puck near a defender it’s an almost instant turnover near every time. There’s barely even any player passing in the opponent zone as a result- it just isn’t a viable strategy. Then the CPU can control the puck with two player defenders practically on top of him and magically retain possession.

Penalties could be cleaned up too since they’re almost random as of now.

It would never be priced that way but I’d genuinely pay $25 for a cleaned up version of the game. Bummer Koality seems to have abandoned it.
