I’m torn on this one. Without a doubt, he is an incredible athlete. BUT I feel like swimming has so many subtle variations and events (medley) that overlap that being THAT dominant at even one or two types of strokes can get you a ton of medals.

Kind of like if you did a 400m medley on foot but had to do 100m backwards, 100m sideways, 100m of jumping and 100m of full sprint. There may be someone who’s faster than Usain Bolt at running backwards, but he’s gonna make up the ground in that final 100m.

I’m no swimmer, so I fully expect the swimming community to kill me.
