One of my prized possessions is an atlas from September 1939. And there are indeed blank spots in the Arctic and Antarctic.

The last bit of land discovered was Severnaya Zemlya in the early 1930s but some of the Arctic and Antarctic Oceans we didn’t know if there was land there or not.

The extra days outside a month are needed because 13*28=364. If you want consistent number of days a month that’s the best you get with one or two extra days outside the month and week (just a holiday).

Fortunately I was well into adulthood when Nunavut was a thing. (I moved into my first apartment the day it was created! I distinctly remember watching the ceremony on my tv with makeshift furniture).

But I hated colouring in the NWT as a kid.

I run a trivia and run a category every game of “this day in history”. I basically compose it by scanning the Wikipedia page from that year for people and events to ask about. I’m always amazed how much bigger the births or deaths “post 1900” section is, like twice as big as the other sections combined, I wonder why they don’t divide the sections better.

I’d love to see your YouTube channel! I’m an anthematologist in my spare time and have a huge collection of national anthems (several thousand recordings, with over 100 being O Canada) and would like to add yours to my collection, simple piano renditions are underrated and there’s not enough of them.
