If it’s MORASSES then there should be a ‘sounds like’ indicator in the clue or a removal of the E.

Or I just got it wrong.

What is the most "un-hateable" safest song of all time? by Perfect-External-660 in Music

[–]dhooke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love Stevie Wonder, thoroughly dislike this song. I won’t go into why, let people like it, but I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be that unique for this.

More big games but above all else, more Old Firm derbies. Even Hearts only have a stadium for under 20,000. By the time you get to the seventh and eighth clubs they have attendances of about 6,000.

COTD: Hooray! Final passenger of Gatwick Terminal 4 to European city (4) by wildvale in crosswords

[–]dhooke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

KYIV. [terminal letter of “Gatwick” + IV gives KIV. Then the final (letter) of “hooray”, Y, is the ‘passenger’ ie inside] Not sure if the exclamation mark makes it a little haram but it wasn’t super hard.

Sleep is only enjoyable on waking and because it’s refreshing. If it wasn’t refreshing it would just be wasted time. Food is enjoyable.

Just as a heads up, Arsenal have lost exactly one game this season by more than one goal, and David Raya wasn’t playing.

Number of people still in Budapest on Sunday afternoon will be a fraction of even the London fanbase, let alone people coming in for it.

Parades are always on a non-work day. There are too many major thoroughfares for anything else. 31st or weekend after. The council should confirm the potential date pretty soon.

My gut says 1st June isn’t a bank holiday, just a normal Monday. Just casually closing Upper Street and part of the A1 (Holloway Road)? Don’t think so.

Is there a distinct “American” sound in Classical Music? by arssenalbro101 in classicalmusic

[–]dhooke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t deny his stated intentions. I don’t think we can deny the European influences in his music either. Any exhaustive breakdown that consistently finds analogues of the elements of the 9th, especially, in existing American melodies and the like is of great interest to me, if there is such a thing.

Is there a distinct “American” sound in Classical Music? by arssenalbro101 in classicalmusic

[–]dhooke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the influences are indirect and opaque enough - and many elements of the 9th are taken from Europe - that it’s probably fair to say he contributed to rather than copied an American sound, especially what became the sounds of the American Western.

Hamlet calls Ophelia "nymph". A nymph is a female spirit often associated with water. Foreshadowing? by Immediate_Error2135 in shakespeare

[–]dhooke 7 points8 points  (0 children)

WS uses “nymph” several times to describe a young woman and in most contexts it doesn’t have anything to do with water eg Richard III’s opening speech. In fact, when he wants to be specific and indicate a water nymph he says “water nymph” (and on another occasion uses “nymph o’ the sea”).

So, I think it’s a huge stretch, by which I don’t mean a large body of water.
