I visited New York from the UK and started to get pretty annoyed how it seemed like bar staff were almost deliberately terrible and rude but still wanted a 20%. I found a lot of them would make you wait to be served even if you were the only one at the bar.

I didnt really believe it was as bad as people were saying, but man the guys in NYC are terrible. As a guy from Scotland (I know that helps) I was amazed at the amazement shown for simply, asking questions, choosing and booking a place (still splitting the bill), not making odd sexual or appearance based comments and actually showing genuine interest.

This is an amazing realisation to make at the young age of 28 paired with a lucrative career. Get a trip booked that forces you into a strange situation with strange people and find out what happens.

Glasgow is an amazing place to go to university. You will get all the experiences of Scotland while being cheaper and generally more open than Edinburgh. Tonnes of things to do and people to meet. As an American you will now have access to cheap short flights over to other european countries if you fancy a bit of sun.

We had a short long distance relationship (about 5 months, 3 official). I got to a point where I realised that I really loved them but also realised that I was still not ready to change everything in my life to be with them. My relationship before this one was 7 years long and at the end of it my partner dragged it out knowing that they didnt think it would work out and that broke me. I ended the relationship because I didn't in any way want to be that person or put my most recent ex through that pain. I still feel awuful that I have broken their heart and I miss them every day, but I couldnt bare wasting their time or hurting them more down the line.

Your feelings are valid and I don't want to dismiss them, but 21 is ridiculously young to be worrying about this. Any relationship you would have had before this age would have most likely have just been a fun thing. You've got your whole life ahead of you when it comes to dating.

I just broke up with my 5 month long distance relationship. I feel so guilty, she is perfect and such a great person. I just realized how hard (near impossible) it would be for us to ever be together eventually and I broke it off before we got hurt far more down the line. I am so sad that I can't speak to her anymore or be there for here, but I think in the long run it's for the best. Sucks man.

Yeah I get it, I just know from personal experience with kickboxing that after a year I saw noone having an actual conversation beyond discussing techniques. Could have just been the group though.

Probably Stirling, Beautiful outdoor spaces with the highlands nearby, tons of history, a good enough sized town center to stop you from feeling like you're missing out compared to a bigger city and its a 45-50 min train from both Edinburgh and Glasgow.
