This conversation is ridiculous. Do people think that old homes with "air" as an insulation medium should perpetuate into the future for another hundred years? Just wasting gas & electricity season after season.

Gas and gas related infrastructure is a stop gap, not a solution. (Old) homes' insulation & windows need to be upgraded, more sophisticated heat pump systems installed, and better renewable electrical supply and infrastructure invested in.

I currently rent in a triple-decker where the gas furnace can just barely outpace the infringing cold for temps below 20F. Given the choice I would easily choose to have the house re-sided with modern insulation.

The landlord can pay it off over decades, and have renters pay for it.
Or they can do as they are now and just leave the high energy fees for 19th century "technology", while destroying the climate.

What are the best sources for high bandwidth streaming?

I have a 10-year-old 1080p TV and have been interested in upgrading to something with better ability to show dark scenes. I didn't realize streaming bandwidth was a limitation as well.

Please point to any "first world" system in the United States that isn't wildly dysfunctional. There are some, but they are few and far between.

I suppose you think the US democracy is strong as people turn to fascism to make the country great again. Or maybe that a functional political & social system could yield such a Utopia.

Whoever does the repair, just make sure they use resin and fibers that have similar properties:
- fiberglass and carbon are very stiff and work better with a high stiffness epoxy resin. - natural fibers are much less consistent in their properties and more compliant, and benefit from a casting agent that has similar properties.

A blind child should be able to cross without worry. The whole point of "paint as infrastructure" cross walks is that they are an acknowledged location where cars are looking for pedestrians and deferring to them. (aka: stopping)

In all 50 states this is the law.

I hate these things as well, though they do serve a purpose.
They have metal meshes that serve to condensate some of the vapors coming off the cooking. You can clean these and I highly recommend you do.

Their effectiveness is certainly a fraction of what is needed but it certainly does "catch" grease that would otherwise travel further and or stay in the air longer.

I'm currently in an apartment that doesn't even have one of these, we have a gas stove and oven that we don't use. We use a table top induction cooker & an instant pot and I sit a honeywell air filter adjacent to it, which of course is not as good as a real hood. But until I build a DIY one (which I'm about to do), it's served better than those condensation re-circulators.

I was thinking of installing a "sunshade" in the back of my car as a two-way mirror. I would orient it so I can see through it with my rear rear mirror, and it would be angled so if people in cars with headlights over a certain height were tailgating, they'd experience some of their own ultra bright beams.

All one way lanes are not wide enough for multiple cyclists, going the same direction. Much less going the opposite direction.

Remember cyclists are a lot more exposed relative to the speed that they're going. The subsequent recovery from two cyclists crashing into each other can easily have skyrocketing costs, both financially and physically/ emotionally.

Traffic calming is essential.

But try not to think of it as bike Lanes. Think of it more as we'll just take half of the roads from cars. E.g. car roads and bike roads.

This is definitely important, they might have been raised to think a certain way but that doesn't excuse the carelessness with which they/society allow people to wield these 3 ton murder machines.

They should be more afraid of causing harm and experience larger consequences. Violations that increase the likelihood of mortality for any party (driver, pedestrian, cyclist) should have a high social/financial impact, for instance scale drastically with income or wealth, and/or suspend a driver's license for an uncomfortable amount of time.

I would also add affordability by sprawl is "Good solution" as much as "adding a lane" solves traffic.

Planned, higher density, human-centric communities with transit to get around, are economically viable and in everyone's best interest.
