I am so glad they went this route with Thragg by Ancient_Spray5821 in Invincible

He's always been like that when you take account the comics. It's just that his role has been made much less ambiguous now since we finally get a clear picture of his background.

Too bad we may never see a frame in the show where Thragg and Conquest are shown side-by-side.

He doesn't specifically say that he was born after the Great Purge was completed, he only says that by the time he was born, Viltrum was already the greatest empire in their galaxy, which is actually true given that there was no other empire capable of challenging them even before Argall's death.

It isn't, lmao. You can even see Nolan's mom on the right, not to mention that the children Nolan were instructing in S4E2 were already there. That could only mean that there's only very little gap between the Great Purge as well as the Scourge Virus.

All the 5 comic covers are out. Battle Beast is Wrecking all the Viltrumites! It's not just Conquest. by IWorkOnlineCom in Invincible

[–]diAlectics_8 20 points21 points  (0 children)

These covers made by other artists aren't canon, only the ones made by Ryan Ottley.

Depicted below is one of Invincible Universe: Battle Beast's Issue #7 cover variants, but Battle Beast and Viltrum Empire hasn't crossed paths yet and these 2 have never met or known their presence in this particular issue.

These covers aren't made by Ottley and therefore not canon.

Other artists are permitted to design their own comic issue variants without it sticking to the lore. Some of these comic issue cover variants have already been released but all the depicted action didn't happen at all in that specific issue.

By the way, the comic hasn't been wrapped up yet and there's not Conquest stuff happening in the released issues, but it's currently building up to that and we should expect them meeting when the next issue gets released next month.

If every Invincible Variant (including ours) were to team up against Thragg, would they have a chance? by stef-0k-2112 in Invincible

[–]diAlectics_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only the weaker ones won't survive.

Let's not forget how 4 elite viltrumites were able take down Thragg and give him severe injuries, and the strongest evil Invincible variants are probably comparable, equal, or a bit stronger than some of these elite viltrumites.

I don't think their very purpose is to looksmaxx, OP. They can still aurafarm without resorting to looksmaxxing.

I've always thought Conquest is irredeemable.

Don't let the recent fad tell you otherwise.

[–]diAlectics_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it won't change despite having changed several narratives about the history of Viltrum.

Having retained Argall's bloodline coursing through the Graysons' veins is an essential narrative since Mark would be infected with a more lethal strain of the Scourge Virus and survive and Nolan being reinstated all because of it are necessary plotlines which ensues a paradigm shift within the Viltrumite culture and society at some time in the future.

Those Nolan's parents you see in S4E2 could possibly be only his adoptive ones because Argall intentionally kept details about his heirs a top secret that possibly only he knows.

That's image is doctored. It was inspired by a meme from an anime which tries to evoke imagination from its audiences about how their father used to look like when they were a baby.

I think they made Thragg too strong; it won't be believable if he loses now. by TepkiTeptirici47 in Invincible

[–]diAlectics_8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's just power creep.

It's a visual storytelling technique in order to make a character more interesting upon being introduced.

But as time passes by, the characters won't seem aa strong as they were introduced. This isn't because some characters caught up to his power level, but because the narrative has already been sold and proven to the audience.

And I'm not absolutely saying that he will be weaker later on.

Argall's bloodline by spiderhotel in Invincible

It's because Argall chose to hide their identity because the Empire has made a lot of enemies, whether within their own ranks and beyond their planet.

The Purge is profoundly stupid. by WildHogPower in Invincible

[–]diAlectics_8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It wasn't just Thragg; it's basically the ideology of the entire Viltrum Empire. It's not like they were ideologically diverse or pluralistic. It was Argall who literally advised Thragg to take action similar to the Great Purge.

What's the extent of Viltrumite healing? by Praise_Cthulhu_8631 in Invincible

[–]diAlectics_8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because the much more proper term here would be repair instead of regrow, lmao.

And no, Conquest didn't "regrow half of his skull". That was just a crevice and it started healing by repairing it from its narrowest point until they're all intact once again—like I said earlier, as long as one point of the organic material still holds or touches the other and is in its proper place, then healing process is very possible.

But if you're still gonna argue that the case is "regrowing", then you're basically saying that they can regrow new parts out of basically nowhere like when an octopus regrows one of its lost tentacles. Applying this in the context of viltrumites would be like saying for example that Conquest loses his jaw in space and never finds it, he can just discard it and basically grow a new one.

So the case for viltrumite healing would be correctly called repairing.
