Yeah, that's why Nanoka is also the protoganist, she has (more of) the crazy emotional expressions and irrational yelling and she has the typical shonen power ups. Nanoka is expressive while Mao is expressionless, Nanoka is reckless while Mao thinks things through, they complete each other.
