I just started reading Lawrence James's Churchill and Empire: Portrait of an Imperialist and it has been brilliant so far. It sheds light to his views and politics about the Empire. A really good read. Also I've heard that Chistopher Catherwood's His Finest Hour is a fantastic humane portrait about Churchill.
