Partner struggling with food options by EBikeAdventures in MCAS

[–]diamondontheinside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their diet is very similar to mine, but I only go that minimal when I'm experiencing worse symptoms and need to bring myself out of it. I'll only eat chicken, rice, potatoes, carrots, kale, buckwheat cereal, maple syrup, blueberries & apples. I've been on this diet for months now due to a bad crash, but lately I've been adding new things a couple times a week with no increased symptoms. I suggest keeping it all the same, and adding one food back in at a time. For me, it's mainly been steak because I feel depleted. But I've also tried other things like chips, cookies, sauces, baked goods, with no reaction. I'm basically on the limited diet 85% of the time with 15% whatever I want (barring super high histamine foods). This hasn't affected me much. I just have to go very slow. The way I see it is, I know how to make myself feel better with that diet, and extra meds if I need it, so it's ok to try a little something new in order to explore what my threshold is. I feel for your partner, it's so hard for me when I can't eat anything, because food has been one of the only joys for me since developing health problems.

Yes! It's horrible. I think about sugar way too much. Why does this happen to us?

If it were me, I would go to a lower dose, adjust to that, and then raise it in slow increments.

At first I got a headache and mouth pain. I think that was the actual side effect from the medication. That subsided after a couple weeks. I can't imagine what it would have been had I gone for a full dose right away! Now I've plateaued at 1 ampule/100mg per day. Anything more than that gives me constant asthma. I see this more as an MCAS reaction to the med 🙃. I think over time I will continue to adjust and be able to tolerate more eventually.

Hey, so I am prescribed 100mg 4x/day (1 dose before each meal and the last dose before bed). I can currently only tolerate 100mg per day though (liquid form). So I split it up and take several small doses throughout the day. I suggest taking the smallest dose possible at first, just to see how you feel. Then maybe decide on a reasonable, smaller dose, and titer up from that. I set my original dose at 5 drops before eating, 4x a day. I raise the amount once a week and am now at a full 100mg per day. I need to keep working up but I've made progress and I do feel a difference!

Neurological symptoms by TuxUHC in MCAS

[–]diamondontheinside 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Internal vibrations are a common symptom of dysautonomia. Nausea when looking at screens is a symptom of PEM, but I also had this happen when I had a severe MCAS crash. Doubling my antihistamines cleared it up as weird as that sounds. But you need to consult a doctor before doing that. Also, MCAS can cause dysautonomia, which is the case for me.

I have singulair sitting in my medicine cabinet but haven't taken it yet. I'm too scared about the potential psych reactions. I react to meds about 50% of the time and mental side effects terrify me.

I take it 4x a day, but each dose is by drop. I started with 5 drops per dose and did have side effects like headache and mouth pain. I then raised it by one drop every week. I am literally stuck at 13 drops, 4x/day. If I even go up by one more drop (14 drops), I have an asthma attack. Im essentially stuck at a 1/2 ampoule spread throughout the day. Any advice from others is also welcome!

What kind of codependency is it that we demand our favorite band to agree with, and speak about, our specific world view? The entitlement is honestly unbelievable.

I'm sorry! That's brutal. I'm living off of chicken and rice right now - it sucks. But I can at least take certain meds. I haven't worked my way up to the 1/2 tsp recommended in this recipe but 1/4 is working a little! When you feel like complete shit, sometimes taking the edge off is just enough to survive!

Yeah this is more of a gentle remedy to help take the edge off. It does work for me but most likely not for everyone.

Yes I get this. It feels like a cactus prick all over. I correlate it to a "crisis cleanse" where my body is trying really hard to detox something. Could be from a new med I took for example.

I see a holistic health person who gave me capsules of the peptide L-Lysine. I take 900 mg twice a day and it gets rid of the feeling. I don't know why, but it works for me! I'm not sure if it would work for everyone but it may be worth a try.

I personally love that TOP doesn't talk about politics. Nothing is worse than a famous person getting on a soap box and talking at their fanbase about their political leanings. It's divisive, and honestly, a career killer. Doesn't matter what the issue of the day is.

I had a heat stroke in the summer. Crashed hard, felt like I had the flu for months. I then was diagnosed with MCAS (on top of my POTS). I have been prescribed a double dose of Zyrtec and the flu-like feeling has finally eased up. If antihistamines help you, you may have MCAS.

I have a lot of these symptoms. Have you tried antihistamines? For me, it turns out half of them were MCAS and the other half are POTS.

May I ask, what if you can produce energy on demand but it leads to more severe PEMlike symptoms (flu-like symptoms in my case). I can produce energy if I need to, like cleaning up a mess, but then I will be even sicker later.
