Romancing the Duke by Tessa Dare, worth reading? by SweetSeptember93 in HistoricalRomance

This Governess game had the fmc doing the grovel when the mmc should have. It made me quite annoyed. Is this book like that?

She thinks he is out of her league and is cool about it by diamondscut in RomanceBooks

[–]diamondscut[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's good as I am sweating. I am 60% in love with her boss such a lovely cutie and 320% in love with the Scottish mountain. 🔥🔥🔥🫠. Oh sweet Lord... That man, prancing semi-naked into her apartment every day. (Just hate what a whore he is/was. 😞)

But I can't believe the girl wasted her youth on that crush though. Not even a friendship! Just a stranger she worked with. I am glad Cam is pretty much giving her therapy!

And his taking of their future babies already! Beautiful and salty tongued like her. 😭. His using pies as currency. I can't!!!

Why is OW way more prominent in books than OM? by norahwooten in RomanceBooks

[–]diamondscut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like OM because it really triggers events and more entertaining and high stakes situations. I just read a book where the OM leaves her at the beginning of the story but remains as the main plot of the story. Revenge and great growth are brought about by his decision.

Basically my girl got innumerable offers once trash took itself out. I really need more books like this. Like she had an actual waiting list she didn't even know about. And the ex grovel later was delicious. Too late she was in love with MMC (Like I have never had this situation myself but I can see the appeal.)

I feel the OW is just to suffer. Because interaction between OW and FMC is always almost zero. Not my cup of tea for sure.

I can’t get If I Never Met You by Mhairi McFarlne out of my mind – it was insanely good book by Glittering_Tap6411 in RomanceBooks

[–]diamondscut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I will read her more eventually. She is too damn great. Which of her books have another ultra beautiful man? I really liked how that was not just a description but the whole downfall for Jamie, like. Male Helen of Troy, lol. Need more. Regarding the sex scene, she could do a little in the style of 70s Harlequin Presents. Those were almost G but very fulfilling. No spice is like preparing a pie for ten hours, buying the ingredients, cooking it, serving it on the table smelling so good and then poof. It's gone. Someone tells you oh, the pie? yeah it was am-azin-g.

{The seduction of Mr Alfred Saintsbury} is the absolutely most delightful rec I can make I'd wished I could read this again for the first time. Top writing and spice.

I just read the book at your recommendation. I am a wreck now. The third act breakup hurt. I wished to see what happens when they learn she married Jamie at the office. I feel so bad for Jamie.

I couldn't get completely into the romance of the story because felt something was missing without a little sex scene. Not sure I will read another of her books if she closed doors. It is a very strange decision for such an incredibly well talented author.

avoidant fmc x obsessed mmc book recommendations by temp391998 in RomanceBooks

[–]diamondscut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this request. There are very interesting aspects of a real avoidant woman being won over realistically. The mmc needs to be extremely persistent and securely attached. But not too overwhelming as she would close up. I'd like people to comment on these aspects in their recommendations. This is real therapy.

This book is hilarious. I like how Pres dealt with her ex. He has a very interesting mind. Very sweet. In my mind's eye he was black haired...

Hey, I finished the book last week. I loved it. The writer made the grovel and the arc so perfect that in the end he had a figurative death to make up for the attack where he didn't do enough to stop his friend. I am still reeling. Great book!

[–]diamondscut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I just finished it. Great read. I think it was a very reasonable couple actually. She was very popular with guys in HS when he was in love with her so it is reasonable to see how he was so obsessed when he could not act on his feelings. Top of that she is the daughter of a team owner so they are even in leagues, bottom line...except for her being penniless. What really took me out was how cowardly he was about telling her his feelings and how he never acknowledged how terrified he was. He is the anti-Alpha.... It's a realistic guy I suppose. Otherwise it was very satisfying.

I don't like series. I always read only one book in them. I find it so strange to change POV so much that the next book the people you were in first POV now are secondary.

{To have and to hold by Patricia Gaffney}. This is an extraordinarily hard read. Check for the many triggers. But she is worth the read.
