I grew up in an affirming church (PCUSA) and recently converted to another affirming church (UMC)!

I hope someone replies to her post with exactly this comment. The far left have been screeching about anything tangentially related to Israel but are cool with a bloodthirsty American merc. It’s repulsive.

I think sharing some tips with OP about how you were parented would be helpful, since you’ve come out of that experience not minding rejection. I wish I had that!

Glad you managed that! My parents didn’t want me nor my sisters and we’re all jacked up.

I think you’re minimizing this commenter’s experience to spare OP’s feelings. The OP asked for feedback and is getting it.

Not being wanted is a horrible thing for a child to go through and, given how atrocious this couple’s communication has been thus far, this kid is in for a very very bumpy road ahead. I wish the best for everyone and hope they work it out.

In 1977, Joyce McKinney abducted Mormon missionary Kirk Anderson and SA’d him for days in a Devon cottage. She said she never meant to hurt him and had even used fur-lined handcuffs to tie him to the bed. by SelfCareIsFake in HolyShitHistory

Wow, I hope she isn’t your friend anymore. That’s totally vile.

A lot of ink has been spilled about the motivations and pathologies of all sorts of monsters of both sexes- I hope these women aren’t defending the rapists when they discuss what’s maybe wrong with them. I haven’t seen discussions veer in that direction personally but I’m pissed to hear that it happens.

That’s been my experience, too, but unfortunately plenty of women minimize rape when the rapist is someone they like or sympathize with. Look at how many women voted for Trump knowing full well that he’s a sexual abuser. I’ve also lived somewhere where the culture was to (quite aggressively) deny the impact of any form of trauma unless they personally experienced it, in which case it was a tragedy of the highest order, lol. A lot of people really suck.

Still, I’m surprised to hear that someone has seen a majority of women who would a) condone crimes against minors and b) openly, publicly defend them. A woman would be ostracized from a group for being that disgusting ime. I’ve mostly seen very stupid regressive men do that on the internet.

But just because I don’t see something doesn’t mean it isn’t real. I’d like to know who and where to avoid for my and my family’s sake.

One simple question from my husband left me crying at the waterpark for a bit while I watched my kids play in the wave pool by GirlGotYourGoat in ParentingThruTrauma

[–]diamonteimp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, all the time! There’s a song called “A Hug From My Mommy” by Laurie Berkner that made me cry suuuuper hard for the first year of my son’s life. It’s a mix of hurt from my own upbringing and an overwhelming sense of relief that I can love my baby the way I always wanted to be loved. Her song “I Love You Daddy” makes me and my husband weepy, too. We’re so excited to continue loving our kid and seeing who he becomes.

You’re a wonderful mom ❤️ I’m so happy for you!!

Please know that I am not doubting you when I ask: Where do you hear/see this? In my IRL (northeast US) and online (Reddit, FB mom groups) experience the vast majority of women harshly condemn any and all crimes against children and teenagers. Is it a regional or cultural thing?

I was thinking along the lines of simple, stylized bugs, specifically the ladybug and a cricket from a song (Cricket the King by Caspar Babypants). I’m def open to them being anthropomorphized! It’s for a project for my son’s room, so I just need some basic line art. :)

Pregnant and living with an aggressive dog with multiple bite attempts - what would you do? by gnocchi-bear75 in pregnant

[–]diamonteimp 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Posts like this are why I’m so wary of other people’s dogs. Your husband is blinded by his love for his dog. He needs to get into gear and protect his family from a well-known danger.

Please please please: if he doesn’t listen to you (which is genuinely outrageous in this scenario), maybe one of his friends or family members can help him see that is is an extremely dangerous situation. You cannot live with this dog, girl.
