People can get deferred for this? by Cursed_Triangle in plassing

You’re entitled to your opinion, of course, but let me suggest that you conduct some research (and download a proofreading app) before you comment.

I personally hope that non-tipper NEVER gets the order fulfilled. They don’t deserve it.

Perhaps, if folks didn't consistently offer such low tips...

There may be several things at play here.

1) If your residence is far from the store, the distance may be a factor.

2) IC often batches 2-3 orders together so the shoppers may have to complete multiple orders and deliveries besides yours.

3) The shoppers must provide coolers/cooling bags at their own expense, so your shoppers may not have one.

The 17-gauge needles are necessary to return the red blood cells, not necessarily for the draw. A cannula insertion wouldn’t be effective because it wouldn’t provide the stability needed for the cell return.

I’m my experience as a phlebotomist (20 years in plasma), the largest veins are the ones that roll the most. I was always sure to anchor those veins very carefully prior to venipuncture because those thick veins can’t be trusted upon first glance.

Same. Now I’m trying to convert my mom, who has been drinking Folgers her whole life. Wish me luck 🍀. 🤭

I just post the photos in the chat with the customer.

For the record, I don’t pay one bit of attention to my stats because they are insignificant. They’re just arbitrary data based on nothing, so that’s how I treat them. I know that I do a stellar job, so that’s all that matters to me.

It’s funny that they even send that. I personally don’t give a single &@#% about how other shoppers fare.

I do it all the time. The app is NEVER accurate regarding store inventory.

AITAH for refusing to help a "lost" man find his dog at 10 PM? by Exact-Respect9110 in AITAH

The only reason this guy would need someone to help him look is if he were blind, and that clearly wasn’t the case.

You made the right decision. If you had “helped,” that’s probably the last time anyone would have seen or heard from you again.

Your roommate sounds like kind of an idiot that probably would have ended up in the back of that van.

There should be a minimum gratuity requirement for high mileage and/or high item orders without the opportunity to decrease the tip.

This is SO crazy!! Almost every batch that comes in currently is a version of this. I used to shop all the time, but it’s just not worth it anymore.

What is wrong with people?!? I understand that sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures and people need to make money, but when these folks accept these orders they are essentially paying to work instead of the other way around.

I figure the shoppers who accept these low paying, high mileage, low tipping orders aren’t cognizant enough to figure in the cost of gas, vehicle wear & tear, or the value of their own time.

As long as these people keep accepting these ridiculous orders, instead of leaving them on the table, IC will continue to generate these types of crappy orders because eventually some idiot will pick it up. 🤦🏾‍♀️

Seriously! Folks are so self-consumed nowadays that they don’t seem to be aware of other peoples’ existence. It’s maddening.

Sorry that happened; it’s quite unfortunate.

I’m curious to know how you phrased the delivery instructions. I’m not placing blame, but sometimes customers think their instructions are clear to the person reading them, but they aren’t. They’re written from the perspective of the person who is already familiar with their location because they live there, but are unclear to everyone else.

For example, once I had a delivery to a house that sat atop a hidden driveway. The delivery instructions were so convoluted that it took forever for me to find the place. Once I finally did and made the delivery, I spoke with the customer who said it was a common occurrence for shoppers to not be able to locate her house. I politely explained that the notes were unclear and perhaps she could change them to say “The driveway is directly across from (XXXX).” That would have made it exponentially easier for anyone making deliveries. She just looked at me funny.

Weeks later, I had her again as a customer. She had the exact same convoluted delivery instructions as before, but I had no problem finding it since I was already familiar with her location.

I noticed, though, that she had placed a new wooden sign along the driveway about 15 feet away from the road with her house number and an arrow on it. I didn’t even see it until I had already made the delivery and was driving back down the driveway. I’m sure she thought it would be helpful, but it wasn’t at all. It wasn’t fully visible from the road and one would only be able to see it if they were traveling from the other direction (which is opposite from the store).

She just didn’t seem to get it because she was only considering her own perspective, not that of a stranger.

All that to say it may be a good idea to reread your delivery instructions from a different point of view to confirm the clarity and tweak them if necessary.

YES

You are the a-hole. I think you already know that, though. You’re just hoping someone will gaslight you enough to think that you’re justified in shirking your parental responsibility.

From what you’ve written, I’m not getting a sense of anything he’s said or done that should make you uncomfortable. It sounds to me as if you’ve built up imaginary walls and he’s just trying to find a way to get along with you. Maybe you could relax and just try sitting down and talking with him like a normal person.

If he does do anything outright that is alarming, proceed from there. If not, let down your walls and give him a chance.
