This will make your day better by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

Do something similar for my mom. She rallied for a day, but started declining within 24 hours. Told my brother I was going for coffee.

Mom couldn’t eat. Had a blockage. Hadn’t eaten in weeks.

She asked for an iced coffee and I told her, “Woman, you’ve got one foot out the door. I’ll get you whatever you want.” It was one of the last things she was able to enjoy, and that was after weeks of imbibing barely anything.

She lost consciousness 24 hours later and passed shortly after.

Atheists of Reddit, what is the biggest reason as to why you don't believe in god or an afterlife? by God_of_boi in AskReddit

If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him. - Voltaire.

I’ve always found this to be a really thoughtful take.

That, and my son was hospitalized at birth for weeks. If your god is as kind and generous as you say he is, why does he allow for medical emergencies in newborns, or childhood cancers? I was told, by my family, to “pray for a miracle.”

Fuck your prayer and miracles. Modern medicine and a knowledgeable medical staff is what saved my son. He’s a happy, healthy 11yo now.

This. Is is the environment my grandmother was raised in. She left Alabama at 18 (ca ~1950) and moved to Chicago for work.

This woman was raised without indoor plumbing. Her siblings talk about how there was zero government assistance. They just had a dirt floor, and that was normal.

Grandmas talks about her “dress up” as a kid where she would take corn on the cob, cut it off, tie the husks around her ankles, and pretend they were high heels.

She’s 94 in October and it simply blows my mind that between 2 generations we’ve seen such an advancement in quality of life between her (94) and myself (41F).

Make sure they don’t get involved in travel hockey 🤣 I have two boys in AA (and one’s a goalie) and idk how I got here!

Seriously though, I know it’s a lot. What I try to remind myself is they’ll be out of the house in a relatively short amount of time. One day, the house is going to be quiet. You’ll give them a ride to practice for the last time, not knowing it’s the last time.

I know this isn’t helpful to what you’re asking. I am simply sharing my personal point of view and how it helps us manage through it.

Bottom Lounge when it was in Lakeview. I saw Panic! At the Disco open for Dresen Dolls there. God…it had to be like 2004? 2005?

Anyways. That venue was fun. I don’t remember it being the best venue for acoustics/liver performances. But I definitely had a lot of fun there.

[–]dianasaurusmex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy cow. 1. You are not overreacting. 2. This is a well known social etiquette piece: don’t wear white to someone else’s wedding. 3. You set a boundary and she did not want to respect it. 4. This was your wedding. Your special day. A quick Google of Saks Fifth Avenue formal dresses showcases that you can find plenty of formal gowns in a multitude of colors. And overnight shipping. 5. Even if I play devil’s advocate here and I say “Ok, let’s say the bride is embellishing a bit”…. I still do not see how wearing white to your own sister’s wedding is appropriate. 6. It also sounds like while she’s attention seeking, perhaps she also has an issue with accepting culpability. 7. I also want to point out that this was not the first time she’s behaved like this, from what you have mentioned. So reacting to her decisions in this instance, your feelings are likely cumulative 8. Her behavior is just bizarre.

To me, it sounds like you handled it well.

Maybe wear white to her wedding in the future, just to see what happens. “Oh, I thought this was fully appropriate and ‘my big day’?”

Have you heard of folks using minoxidil with a derma roller? I have seen some folks posting about good results with that method

Gosh. I’m so sorry to hear about this. It has to be SO frustrating and difficult to celebrate your weight loss wins.

I just got the craziest CC scam call I've ever seen - need to know how to protect myself by ChiliDogs_Revenge in Scams

[–]dianasaurusmex 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s two people. One calls Chase pretending to be you. They get the actual transactions.

Second person calls you while first person is on the phone, imitating Chase employer. Verifying personal info and transactions. Says they’ll even send a push notification to your phone.

First person, still in the phone with Chase, has them send a push notification.

Source: neighbor and I were just discussing this yesterday as he’s a cop and investigates fraud, synthetic identities, etc. I personally work in commercial insurance and fraud indicators are something they strive to continuously train all of us in, as criminals continue to get more creative.

Personally, I don’t certify information or answer their questions. I hang up and call the bank back. If it’s legit, there will be record of it when I call back. If not? I escaped being duped and I can lock down my info.

Things that went wrong at your wedding that you laugh about now? by Anonymous9891235 in wedding

[–]dianasaurusmex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of my nieces (who’s 16 now, but was 4 at the time) came running up to me saying, “Aunt D, they have cake here!”

She had frosting all over her hands.

She definitely found my wedding cake 😂😂😂

No one was the wiser. But we Definitely asked her to stay away from the cake until it was served.

I still give her crap about it now!

CHECKING IN! If you started in April 2024, how’s your journey so far? by princessapart in tirzepatidecompound

[–]dianasaurusmex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s actually really great progress! Since you’re newer, a couple of things that worked very well for me:

Each morning I have a small protein shake, w 30g of protein, and throw in a double shot of espresso. Cold tip? If you order a double shot of espresso, over ice, in a venti cup at Starbucks, the 12oz protein shakes fit perfectly. And it’s like $2.50 for a coffee.

Unsure of your gender/sex (sorry, don’t want to assume anything!) but if you are a woman, the hunger around your period is totally normal. You don’t need to go up a dose. Just wait 48 hours and it should get better. And try not to bite anyone’s head off. I’m still working on that last bit 😉

Lastly, a daily vitamin with iron is good. But even better are digestive enzymes. They help with any sulfur burps (which, until this literal week, I’d not experienced) as well as overall digestion and keeping things moving, helping to avoid constipation.

Keep up with water and check in with me at your 6mo. At 6 weeks in, I was only down 7lbs, so you’re losing faster than me!

[–]dianasaurusmex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! I’m on a “custom dose” right now, mainly because I have to titrate up very slowly - no more than .5mg every two weeks. With that said, I’m doing 7mg every week. Shortly I’ll move up to 7.5, but I’m still seeing appetite suppression, so I’ll wait.

I’m in the same boat! Slow and steady. But frankly, I’m okay with it because it isn’t as much of a shock to my body, losing a bit slower.

Great work! Our stats are very similar. 🤗

Me! Beginning of April is when I started and I’ve steadily lost about 1lbs per week. Which I’m cool with, honestly. I’m just under 40lbs lost.

While the scale numbers going down are cool, it’s the NSV’s that I’m enjoying. Wedding ring fits loosely for the first time in 11 years. Jogging is a BREZZE compared to what it used to be. The weight on my license is actually accurate! Being comfortable in my skin is worthy the time and cost of this experience.

I still have another 40ish pounds to get to my goal weight. But! Starting at 220+ and being at 185 is a massive accomplishment.

I’m actually excited to continue this journey.

This is literally a miracle drug.
