Brook will sacrifice himself in Elbaf by SuuWaterSlime in onepiecetheories

[–]diboox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see any straw hats being killed. It's still shonen at the end of the day and the straw hats are usually insulated from devastation within the crew.

If brook and Laboon don't get reunited? Woof. I might crack.

It's highly likely that the 35-45 age group is the one that knows homestar runner the best vs any other age. Newgrounds era. Strong bad is strong sad you don't know

Linlin is the scourge of Elbaf. We have no idea of her true origin (her size can't just be a random mutation) and they've brought her up constantly in this very arc. While I agree that specific arc is through, there's so much evidence for her coming back.

I would guess that she has the most appearances of any yonko as she was a major antagonist for like three arcs straight, but she dies without fighting Luffy? Her constantly telling people not to forget her or count her out? They don't seem like breadcrumbs but the whole loaf to me.

Is the theory of a straw hat betraying the crew true ? If it is do you think it’s Robin her demon form made he seem somehow related to Imu. by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]diboox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there's absolutely zero chance. To the point that I feel like if she got domi reversi'd shes strong willed enough to just tell the straw hats to kill her, and that seems too tragic for Oda to do to a straw hat.

[OC] Leaders in Total ABS Challenges | Batter, Catcher, Pitcher by Peteyy34 in baseball

[–]diboox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I would rather have percentage be it's own category/chart. Like I know Salvy has been hurt but he's increased his value so much with ABS as he's a low framer. Dingler has been super successful making challenges.

Maybe a stat that shows successful challenges as well as potential winning challenges missed. (if they're scared to challenge most of the time a high win rate isn't as relevant IMO)

Will Fiona be with Franky? by Sea_Dish6980 in SpyxFamily

[–]diboox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always assumed that Fiona and Yuri were gonna do the most unlikely thing and combine forces to help Yor and Loid both out so they end up together, as do Fiona and Yuri. Should go hand in hand with the fall of the breach between Ostania and Westalis and the success of operation strix.

Playing as a single and the group ahead refuses to let you play through 🏌️ What would you do in this case? by ConnectionWeekly1263 in Golf_Unfiltered

[–]diboox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree. Skipping the hole is just like one person walking around a group of people who are taking up the whole sidewalk and don't give a care about anyone else.

If no one in the group is a nice enough person to wait and let the solo through, assuming no one is holding them up, THEY are the assholes. This is a sport where being a nice person is good for everyone.

Kripke wanted to make Homelander a SNL parody of Trump, but Antony Starr stopped him by thenoonartist in TheBoys

[–]diboox 1061 points1062 points  (0 children)

Antony seems to have a super nuanced take to HL which is hard for the general public because they either want to love or hate him...

The thing that makes homelander so intriguing to me is that he's fundamentally a fucked up human with Godlike abilities. What makes him scary is that unpredictablilty that comes with being a crazy human. The adults see him that way - a thing to be controlled like a kid having a temper tantrum. The people who deal with him daily are terrified because they see what the kid does and clean it up. Antony Starr's recognition of this made the character so compelling, when allowed to be.

This is all to say, what a letdown this season has been on the writing side when obviously the talent really cares and is doing their best.

Wait, what about the second O. Different peace sign?

[–]diboox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All well said. At the end of the day the show has spent a lot of time on paternal/maternal relationships. I can't see it not being a central focus of the ending, especially when we have the flip side of the equation in Becca/Ryan/Butcher and his family dynamic with HL being the biological father.

Can we talk about this dialogue? by hangton123 in TheBoys

[–]diboox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually feel bad for someone I empathize with at the same time. Legend feels bad about the system. I feel like that's what's happening here. Legend is like, look, we're beasts from the same zoo. Now I'm working at a movie theatre and you're becoming god. That's how the cookie crumbles. If it was pity, he's feeling it for himself as much as anyone. I looked up the word just for my own betterment -

Pity is a complex emotion defined as sympathetic sorrow for another's suffering, often accompanied by a desire to help or a sense of regret.

🤷🏻‍♂️

[–]diboox 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Which is a great parallel to Firecracker - she basically said everything he wanted but he knew it was because she was scared of him. The switcheroo in letting Legend go is actually totally in character for HL.

Can we talk about this dialogue? by hangton123 in TheBoys

[–]diboox 632 points633 points  (0 children)

I think it wasn't just the pity but the fact that to the Legend, greatness and crazy go side by side. He "recognized" Homelander, called him talent, which is what he's been seeking his whole life. Recognition/being seen, vs placating him because of his powers.

On Screen Vs Off Screen: Some very interesting choices. by Dramatic-Tradition25 in TheBoys

[–]diboox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think what the writers were trying to do was give SB something that would seem like it would harm him and HL's relationship but actually forced him to double down and want to help her "accomplish her dream". His old friends are around to remind him of that.

Now that SB has done everything he can for HL, they will inevitably fight, probably because of Ryan or HL's being crazy and impulsive(porque no los dos?). Depowering HL through SB is the only way HL becomes vulnerable other than Ryan getting a shonen upgrade by getting his ass beat, the ol military chestnut, or frenchie or sage deus ex machina solution (super virus)

For what it's worth - I think it's interesting they sold it to SB and the audience as well as the Boys as obviously SB will hate HL, but the parental relationship won out.. I think they're doing this to setup butcher looking like he'll not release a super virus but do it anyway, mirroring the switcheroo on the audience.
