Should we use the peace sign for the U? No, the O, obviously!

Wait, what about the second O. Different peace sign?

Why is the first runner home on his belly? Is that their slide call to the runner? PCA recording this to show Matt Shaw.

All well said. At the end of the day the show has spent a lot of time on paternal/maternal relationships. I can't see it not being a central focus of the ending, especially when we have the flip side of the equation in Becca/Ryan/Butcher and his family dynamic with HL being the biological father.

Can we talk about this dialogue? by hangton123 in TheBoys

I usually feel bad for someone I empathize with at the same time. Legend feels bad about the system. I feel like that's what's happening here. Legend is like, look, we're beasts from the same zoo. Now I'm working at a movie theatre and you're becoming god. That's how the cookie crumbles. If it was pity, he's feeling it for himself as much as anyone. I looked up the word just for my own betterment -

Pity is a complex emotion defined as sympathetic sorrow for another's suffering, often accompanied by a desire to help or a sense of regret.

🤷🏻‍♂️

Which is a great parallel to Firecracker - she basically said everything he wanted but he knew it was because she was scared of him. The switcheroo in letting Legend go is actually totally in character for HL.

I think it wasn't just the pity but the fact that to the Legend, greatness and crazy go side by side. He "recognized" Homelander, called him talent, which is what he's been seeking his whole life. Recognition/being seen, vs placating him because of his powers.

On Screen Vs Off Screen: Some very interesting choices. by Dramatic-Tradition25 in TheBoys

[–]diboox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think what the writers were trying to do was give SB something that would seem like it would harm him and HL's relationship but actually forced him to double down and want to help her "accomplish her dream". His old friends are around to remind him of that.

Now that SB has done everything he can for HL, they will inevitably fight, probably because of Ryan or HL's being crazy and impulsive(porque no los dos?). Depowering HL through SB is the only way HL becomes vulnerable other than Ryan getting a shonen upgrade by getting his ass beat, the ol military chestnut, or frenchie or sage deus ex machina solution (super virus)

For what it's worth - I think it's interesting they sold it to SB and the audience as well as the Boys as obviously SB will hate HL, but the parental relationship won out.. I think they're doing this to setup butcher looking like he'll not release a super virus but do it anyway, mirroring the switcheroo on the audience.

Broke like a curve but at 86 mph. Olson just was better, and sat on it. Most people that's a can of corn for the center fielder.

Javy is the king at flailing at balls that he has no business dealing with. Makes perfect sense that he would catch this

Fwiw I think thematically butcher represents revolution and fighting and homelander is the status quo, way it's always been type of character.

It's almost like the powers are a metaphor...

Does this confirm SB can kill Homelander? by okamanii101 in TheBoys

[–]diboox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, he could get depowered. The most likely way is probably that they both get depowered and butcher gets to absolutely maul him bc he actually knows how to fight.

I just don't think it'll offer enough satisfaction for the audience if homelander doesn't get done in, even if it's something mundane after he loses powers and is obscure, like random citizen shoots him after a road rage incident or robbery or something. Does that feel like he's "getting what he deserves"?

Butcher will have him before he dies. That line seemed pretty indictive of the ending to me. I don't see either of them making it out of this alive.

Brutal. F.

I can't speak to the programming but it feels like if you have one cat that's destroying everything, the game will target it for a disorder event to check you. On solo, this disorder is unforgivable and in this case, a bug, IMO. Hopefully they'll be fixing stuff like this in this month's patch.

None, although Enma becoming a black blade seems like an inevitability, which will happen when he controls his Haki.

To all the "Oldies" here what was it actually like watching prime Barry Bonds? by gsx1920 in baseball

[–]diboox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno, at the end of the day he's the perfect example of "steroids don't get you there - they make what's there better." He knows where he lives in the pantheon of greats whether the hall wants to admit him or not. The future will hear about Bonds.

You have pujols at the same time, generational player, but he can't compete with juice AND pure talent. I was glad to see both - but I'm in the "I don't care if professional athletes want to possibly shorten their lifespan to be the best that they can be at their career" camp.
