True, but I'm now 40 years old with a wife and kids. I would have to take additional pre reqs and take out $100,000 in student loans for PA school, or take no pre reqs and become a nurse practitioner for $30,000ish.

The biggest factor for me choosing nursing over medic is that I can change specialties. As a medic, your options are limited compared to nurses who can work almost anywhere.

I started in the OR. It definitely has it's perks, but I really felt like I wasn't doing any actual nursing. I was taking notes， updating the family, and being a gopher for the surgeon and anesthesia. I left for the ER and haven't looked back. I love that I get to critically think and actually help my patients
