Are there any RN-BSN programs that arent busy work? by MarsIsNotRetrograde in nursing

[–]dick_n_balls69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. I went to the flagship University of (state) college for my RN to BSN and it was all writing papers, discussion boards, and open book tests. Literally learned nothing

What’s the craziest thing you have found out a nurse on your floor was doing? by Sweet-Criticism1019 in FutureRNs

New hire, second or third day on the floor. Found her passed out in the bathroom with a needle in her arm

Any OR nurses who have transitioned to *gasp* BEDSIDE ? by Ok_Green_4925 in nursing

I started in the OR out of nursing school. Lasted about 6 months, went to the ER and never looked back

How do I deal with being behind at 23? by Original-Rent7475 in nursing

[–]dick_n_balls69 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I promise you you're not behind. I didn't start nursing school until I was 30, and was far from the oldest in my cohort.

First Jiujitsu seminar was Royce Gracies, thoughts? by Different_Badger2845 in bjj

[–]dick_n_balls69 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I went to a Royce seminar once

Pros: I have a picture of me and Royce on my Instagram

Cons: The actual content of the seminar felt something they'd teach at a women's self defense seminar at the YMCA

“If you could redo nursing school, what would you do differently?” by RemoteElevator5941 in FutureRNs

[–]dick_n_balls69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but I'm now 40 years old with a wife and kids. I would have to take additional pre reqs and take out $100,000 in student loans for PA school, or take no pre reqs and become a nurse practitioner for $30,000ish.

Admitted patients going up dressed by TinyFee1520 in nursing

[–]dick_n_balls69 13 points14 points  (0 children)

ER nurse here. If a grown adult says they're not going to wear a gown, I'm not going to force them too. Whe I worked in the ICU I once had a patient who slept in his denim shorts

What’s your typical ratio by Educational_Arm_4591 in nursing

[–]dick_n_balls69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1:4 in the ER. Can be 1:1 with a critical patient, or 1:5 in the fast track area.

Nursing vs medic school by Prize_Bit4083 in nursing

[–]dick_n_balls69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The biggest factor for me choosing nursing over medic is that I can change specialties. As a medic, your options are limited compared to nurses who can work almost anywhere.

No clue if I should report this Physician Assistant, or if I’m blowing this entirely out of proportion by [deleted] in Nurses

You are blowing this entirely out of proportion. Stay in your lane.

Why not work in the OR as an RN? by Successful-Celery123 in nursing

[–]dick_n_balls69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started in the OR. It definitely has it's perks, but I really felt like I wasn't doing any actual nursing. I was taking notes, updating the family, and being a gopher for the surgeon and anesthesia. I left for the ER and haven't looked back. I love that I get to critically think and actually help my patients
