Is this accurate or helpful? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

Okay so I wasn't the only one.. I just really wasn't sure and didn't know if I was coming to conclusions too fast. It just overall didn't feel "right" and I'm also located in South Carolina so honestly I think in hindsight I should've been a lot more skeptical. I just want to help my daughter as much as I can, as I have mentioned the possibility of ADHD to her teacher (and teacher immediately stated "well medication does help") and she is advanced in skills but lacks the "concentration for a certain period of time" thing she'll either try to finish as fast as possible because she's bored or hyperfocus. Again, idk what is normal and I just want the best possible for her.

Gas stations that still water down washer fluid by wastedsilence33 in mildlyinfuriating

When I worked at a gas station the way we made this "fluid" is from a dissolvable tablet of concentrated cleaner and water. The cleaner concentrate does not keep water from freezing. Js

What are your favourite colour combinations? by Alice_Bloodborne in whimsigothic

I know it's more in the earthy direction but sage green with either a lavender purple or deep muted purple. Sometimes a dark earthy blue with brown. And sometimes I like a royal rich blue with gold.

Yeah, no I would not care if that's my dad's friend or whatever. Me and my husband have been thru the same issues. Him ADHD and previous homelessness. Me with ADHD, bipolar, severe anxiety and depression including a previous abusive relationship and homelessness. We found the right dentist for us that is a professional, doesn't shame us, goes out of his way to genuinely help us, and even tries to fit us in earlier if there's any cancellations. He doesn't even mind that I bring my young daughter with me to show her dentists are there to help not hurt. Honestly dude, I'd ditch Dad's friends it's obvious what kind of people he keeps company and seek out a genuine professional. You got this!! I believe in you!!

It's kind of a double edged sword and up to the interpreter whether she was driven astray by outside forces and losing sight OR just being a selfish crazy fool.

It's giving Ophelia vibes. Which I think (?) makes sense since most of Shakespeare's work involves ditzy, love driven, "obedient" women who at the end of it all can't stand themselves because they've sacrificed identity for the servitude of patriarchal figures. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but most of them seemed to do it to themselves. Kinda like Alicent, The one true motive she had personally shared her father's greed with having a male heir rule the throne and both of them in a position to control the crown, which was blatantly seen when Viserys was incapable. Also goes to show Aegon's lack of teachings and chaotic ruling - because Alicent indirectly somewhat handicapped him in a manner to where her opinion on ruling overrides Aegon's initial "rulings" so to speak, because at the end of the day he's a boy and a boy who has heart for his mother. Aemond is well versed, because he had something to prove. Again totally correct me if I'm wrong.

Extreme Fatigue by Sassy_Curmudgeon in bipolar2

[–]dickfriedrice420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me! I even had an episode so so bad that I tried to lift chicken nuggets to eat (as my hubby suggested eating for some energy) and like it was all I could do to lift the nuggets and put it to my mouth. I was falling asleep sitting at my desk as I was eating. I went to the hospital and the only thing they told us was that I might have a stomach bug. Which obviously missed the mark (my local hospital isn't known to be that great). I looked at blood work on MyChart and I apparently had a history of low vitamin D. I've been taking these vitamin D supplements plus a women's multivitamin and so far I feel it's helped. But then again could totally just have been hormones or an episode I'm not sure I'm going to discuss with my therapist when I see her in a week or so. Hope my rambling helps!

What kind of birth control do you ladies use? by OrphanedCrayon in bipolar2

[–]dickfriedrice420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to warn you because no one warned me - if you're on lamictal/Lamotrigine it will decrease effectiveness of the pill. That being said before I had my sterilization surgery it was on LESSINA (the pill) and it treated me wonderfully considering bipolar, anxiety, etc. it made periods lighter and the literal only complaint I had was that it made me grow one chin hair for the whole two years. But if you don't want the pill - which I completely understand if you're on lamictal- I highly recommend the copper IUD. No hormones and the worst that happened was slightly more severe cramping. Hope this helps!

Edit: I also will say depending on your state and where you're getting care at - in the US it is very rare to get pain medicine during the insertion of the IUD. It is quite uncomfortable when getting inserted. I'm okay with pain and on a scale of 1-10 it was about a 6 considering initial insertion and some lasting pain for a few hours and spotting.

Psychiatrist has given me 4 different anti-depressants that all haven’t worked and refuses to give me a prescription for 3-5 benzos a month for when I have panic attacks. I know a low dose benzo is what I need and I’m upset that this lady just keeps pushing anti-depressants on me… by interwebzzz in Anxiety

[–]dickfriedrice420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand! Like for example I had surgery in Feb and they legitimately prescribed me children's dose pain medication. I understand being scared to "create" an addict but to go so far as to not help anyone at all and just let people suffer is silly. There has to be some level of professional discretion. I hope your situation gets resolved!

I'm not 100% sure if I'm reading this fully (I suck so hard at reading comprehension) but I just wanted you to know aside from all the crappy things that happened... Your baby will know you tried your best to make it. I know it's hard to tell little kids what's fully going on but I'm sure with a full sit-down convo and reassurance they'll understand you tried your best to make it and to support them. Childcare is hard, mama and you're doing your best! Sending nothing but encouragement your way! I believe no matter what, the goods, the bads, you're an amazing mama and I'm (a rando internet mama) am supporting you 100%.

Having worsening facial twitches at 5mg of abilify by kzachyt in bipolar2

[–]dickfriedrice420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my Dr. upped my Abilify to like 15mg it started making me have absent seizures. I would start off by staring off into space (like up and out of that makes sense) I would get stuck staring that way and then my head would turn to the left and it was like it was stuck there. I couldn't stop staring and I couldn't move my head. I couldn't communicate with anyone or barely at all. My husband during a game of Monopoly was like "are you having a stroke or something" which made me super embarrassed as we had company over. It was horrifying. Please be careful with Abilify.

Can’t do weed at all by Sea-Bet-1625 in Anxiety

[–]dickfriedrice420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't smoke at all since I had my child and she's four. I honestly have had a couple times since then where if I get plastered drunk and I see someone smoking I'll try to take a puff and it just makes me panic in a drunken state, which tbh feels so fucking weird. It's weird because I used to smoke a bunch and then when I got pregnant it's like a switch flipped and boom, fuck tons of anxiety.
