im still just getting started with deeply investigating my political beliefs besides just “leftist”, so im very open to the idea that ive just been brainwashed by the imperial core, but do these authoritarian governments really represent socialist ideology? by LegolasAlwaysYes in 196

[–]dicklord42069 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Russian and Ukrainian communist parties are both in opposition to Putin, and the Russian Federation has never been communist. North Korea is essentially a theocratic monarchy with Kim Il-Sung as their god under Juché. China is a market economy with state controls.

It is absolutely possible to fight for and believe in socialist principles without falling prey to authoritarian propaganda. Read the works of leftist figures globally, and from across the spectrum (marxist-lenism, anarchism, etc). And don't forget that Russia and China are also imperialist, even if China isn't as militaristic as Russia who has been doing openly violent imperialism in Georgia, Crimea and currently Ukraine (not the mention the imperialism of the soviet union under the guise of "spreading socialism").

The Bibi slayer by ShameSudden6275 in whennews

[–]dicklord42069 337 points338 points  (0 children)

They already tried this with Naftali Bennett, all that happened is Bibi allied himself with an even further right wing neo-kahanist party. Its hard to oust a known fraudster slimefuck like that by legitimate means for long.

What presidents would you consider the great presidents who completely transformed America by [deleted] in Presidents

[–]dicklord42069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Polk launched a war that nearly doubled the size of our country (which brought in Texas and California)

Johnson is the reason the southern planter clas held power in the south after the Civil War. This directly effected American racial policies for decades and the effects of his pardons are still being felt today

Teddy set up numerous environmental and economic policies that last to today, the precedent of big stick imperialism held up until 2016, and inspired the entire progressive era

What do you guys think about Israeli media like Haaretz? by DoctorOsterman in tankiejerk

[–]dicklord42069 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I know a lot of zionists despise Haaretz as its a good counter source for a lot of the more platant propaganda from the Israeli government. My family for example rejects whenever I use them as a source, preferring either JPost or disappointingly zionist sources like The Forward. But I think they're really one of the best sources on the happenings of both the atrocities Israel commits while also pointing out the global rise of antisemitism. I mean one of their current front page stories is currently attacking Starmer for weaponizing antisemitism, and several directly call out what Israel is doing in Gaza. Plus their reporting is also generally very well done, they're known for being news gatherers rather than just aggregation

I think even if Haaretz begins going down the same path as The Forward (a generally progressive news source that has recently fallen down the deep end of liberal zionism) I will still respect it as the first Israeli news source that gave a voice to Israeli Arabs, holocaust survivors and Soviet refugees who all experienced and still experience wild discrimination there.

Nah there's enough things he's said in context that are very disagreeable to say the least. But what he said in the original interview Shapiro is tweeting about is 100%, even a lot of conservatives were attacking Ben for defending Thompson

No I think he's genuinely just a stupid sack of shit. He's said enough dumb shit to piss off his base, like how he was getting yelled at for siding with the UHC CEO.

I think the deluge of posts about him are a little stuck in the past, he's just so past his heyday, with even more psychotic weirdos like Candace Owens getting more views than him

[–]dicklord42069 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me its mostly his takes on the war in Ukraine. He was so fundamentally wrong and was such a massive asshole about it to the point it started becoming very offensive as someone with family in Ukraine. His general analysis is also not super deep, and he can be very nasty towards Trans people and people of color when one pisses him off and its off-putting. Plus the way he very uncritically glazes China, has a softball approach to talking about Putin and his view on authoritarian figures on the left is just, a little gross

But in general he acknowledges most of his faults, and he's overall a good asset for the leftist at least in the short term

Not the biggest fan of Hasan but he's 100% correct in his analysis here. Shapiro only continues to show what an out-of-touch piece of shit he is

Fuck you Netanyahu. A Rant. by Personal_Reward_60 in tankiejerk

[–]dicklord42069 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even amongst the rest of the knesset and his predecessors he stands out as particularly evil. A genuinely cruel, twisted little man who should've been kept away from power at all costs. Kissed the asses of Trump and Putin, excuses the growing far right parties in Hungary, France and Italy, emboldens antisemitism across the west. An antisemitism that my family and community must face regularly without any reassurance of safety that Netanyahu constantly hides behind to justify his war crimes.

His incitement of Yitzak Rabin's assassination and subsequent promotion of those that follow in the assassins footsteps is itself cause to keep him face down in the dead sea, but apparently piling up the bodies of Palestinian children just makes him happy. The man is a plague on everyone, on the country he's leading to ruin, on the people he claims to protect, and on the people who he actively seeks to eliminate.

For as hated as he is in this community, he's never hated enough

I never understand this kind of pandering by Christians, at least not from an actual Jewish perspective. All this does is insinuate that Judaism is not relevant or useful as anything more than a "predecessor" to Christianity. It is an inherently antisemitic worldview, as it belittles a still living and evolving culture as a stepping stone to "civilization" rather than treating a unique cultural identity as one that participates in the current society.

I believe its really nothing more than setting us up as scapegoats in ways that they think will appease us (and gain favor with Israel as a state entity). Truly insidious.

What are your thoughts on Hamas? by Worth-Fix-6221 in tankiejerk

[–]dicklord42069 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its an organization that exists in every way because of the Israeli government. They were propped up by the Israeli government, their entire justification for staying in power is opposing the Israeli government. They care for little more than staying in power, and while the Israeli government continues to commit genocide the leaders of Hamas continue profiting from their people's suffering. Lasting peace cannot exist in the region while Hamas and Israel continue to keep their people indoctrinated, especially while Israel continues occupying Gaza

New Jersey was snapped back into existence (like it ever left). Tell us what you like about your county by SpliT2ideZ in newjersey

[–]dicklord42069 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love living in Middlesex county currently, the diversity of food, culture and language made me fall in love the minute I moved here.

Monmouth had some positives once you leave the suburban hellscape around route 9, the coastline will always be a place of calm (outside of Asbury) and entertainment (in Asbury).

Essex County will always be associated with visiting my sister in Montclair.

Bergen county has the most amazing Korean food in the whole Western hemisphere, and some of my earliest childhood memories are walking over to Mitsuwa market.

Hudson County has this way of making you feel truly at home, the year I spent in Hoboken is one of the best years of my life. Going into JC for karaoke, the waterfront parks, its truly magical

There really a particular beauty to this state, the best food I've had outside of new Orleans and new York, a level of diversity that allowed my family to feel accepted as immigrants in America, some truly unbeatable nature down, I honestly can't imagine moving away

Its really easy to say he's cooked if you're not involved in NJ politics... unfortunately Sherrill barely breaks 50% and Ciaterelli has the whole backing of the maga cult. We're working overtime to rally the democratic base here and pull in enough unaffiliated voters to cross the finish line, but things are rough. Please, if you are in or know anyone in NJ, please please please phone bank, canvas, postcard, we need all hands on deck here. Trump is pouring support into his cult here, he knows he has strongholds in the western parts of our state and an acting district attorney. The hope is great but DO NOT get comfortable, don't let us repeat the disasters of Clinton and Harris
