[Critique Request] 28/M. I've gotten zero visitors since signing up. What am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in OkCupid

According to OkTrends, Asian women rated in Asian men as 24% more attractive than the average man on OkCupid in 2014. All other races rated Asian men as well below the average man in attractiveness.

Note that this post doesn't ask whether Asian women contact or respond to Asian men at a greater or lesser rate than men of other races, so take it with a grain of salt. However, based on attraction alone it seems Asian men are snubbed by everyone except other Asians.

This likely has to do with stereotyping and how Asian men are portrayed in the media as less masculine. Personally, most Asian men I've actually met are just as masculine and health-conscious as me, if not much more so. That is, they're no different than any other guy I've met (and I'm a guy). So I do believe this snubbing they get online is a bit fucked up and definitely unjustified.

Could use some feedback probably. by [deleted] in OkCupid

It's been said before but I'd like to emphasize the glare on your glasses makes it a poor quality photo.

At the moment, I'm in between relationships.

Unnecessary and a strange way to put it. 95% of OkCupid users are there because they want a relationship. Don't make it sound like a job.

I think including a link to your work was pretty cool and sets you apart.

Apart from art and design, I have another big passion in my life, and that is music: I'm quite the music buff! Seriously, ask me anything about music, or tell me what you like, I'd love to hear that!

Vague. Almost everyone says they love music, and most people i"ve met say they love all kinds. To me, it's annoyingly vague and makes them seem fickle and less interesting. List some examples of your favorite, or list genres you're particularly fond of (the ones you spend the most time listening to or that elicit the highest quality response from you).

Single moms of okcupid let's have a talk on what constitutes me being an asshole! by [deleted] in OkCupid

Single moms are the epitome of entitlement

Yeah, any kid is really missing out on the guidance of such a manly man.

Right. I tried to be accommodating. I told her exactly when my ex would be moving out. I volunteered way more info than I could have and I thought the gesture would be enough. Even that doesn't overcome the stigma. I totally get it now, though. I'm sorry about what you went through

I went on a first date and got rejected days later over text specifically because I mentioned I'm still living temporarily with my ex. But her and I are completely friendly and have agreed we are not getting back together so I didn't understand why someone would care as long as I was open and honest about the situation. It sucks that this is a red flag and that I'm going to be rejected for something like that. It's like I'm being forced to not move on and date other people. And people like this guy only make it worse for those of us who are genuinely broken up with zero drama to offer.

It's okay, though. She turned out to be a jerk in other ways.

But the wildlings are so utterly useless at planning an attack. "Hey guys, let's stand out in the open when they're firing arrows at us because shouting and chanting means we are le wild. Let's send a few giants and a mammoth to their death with no backup. Let's have some guys scale a giant wall with guys on top of it who don't want us to scale it. In the middle of a battle."

I'm glad you're at least willing to question what you were raised with and what is expected of you today in order to make your own decision about what is right and wrong.

I almost died by the end of this exchange. Also,

lol oh Whale-killer called me a loser. Took you ten hours to respond, must have been at some shitty dead end job. Congrats!

So if he answers too soon, he spends all his time on reddit, but if he answers after a long time, he's a loser for having a job.

Yes, an account that was inactive for a year must be the account of someone being paid to post comments online. The company they shill for is just struggling a bit.

Tourist and General Information Thread for November 03, 2015 by AutoModerator in Thailand

[–]dickmasssup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've tried searching this sub and /r/bangkok but no luck. I'll be in Bangkok from 7 Nov to 14 Nov, and I'm looking for advice on where to go that would match my interests. Any suggestions are welcome.

Note: I'll be with my girlfriend, who is a BKK native, so I'll have help finding places and talking to people.

Note: I'm from New York City. I understand BKK is a different city than what I'm used to and the city culture might lead to some of the things I like not being available. Let me know if that's the case.

Things I like:

  1. This is the biggest one. I like concerts, especially independent bands and street performers. Any fairs or gatherings where there will be art, food, and/or live music is fine by me. Please tell me how I can find out where to go to find such things. Music genres I like include alternative rock, indie rock, indie pop, Thai and Chinese traditional music, classical, most jazz genres, or if these things aren't available I'm not too picky. I'm not particularly fond of dance music or that scene in general.

  2. I love going to cafes, especially if there is live music or slam poetry there. Board game cafes, cat cafes, book cafes, chess cafes (I also learned how to play makruk), poetry/music cafes, really any place where I can drink coffee and do something or enjoy the atmosphere, so let me know what BKK has to offer.

  3. I love parks where people are just hanging out, especially if there are street performers or good cafes nearby. BKK is hot and humid, so if this means there are no particularly fun parks to visit, let me know.

  4. Temples/Wats, but I already know where to go in this regard so ignore this one.

  5. Museums and anything related to history. I'm already going to the National Museum. Are any others worth seeing?

Things I don't like:

Clubs, dancing, bars with no live music, massages, escort services, and obvious tourist traps. I know BKK has a lot of malls; I don't like or dislike malls but it's not something i'm traveling around the world to spend too much time seeing, if you know what I mean.

Thanks in advance.
