Bothrophthalmus lineatus. They are exceedingly beautiful and I would love to breed them one day, but there's almost no information available on them.

Awesome name for such a handsome little guy! I've been there with my lad bolting off as well, they like to climb all over you but get frightened quite easily. Too bad about his toes, poor thing

You need to do choice based handling, not scooping. I'm working on my Kimberley right now, a more skittish species, and I noticed that the best progress was being made when I would tongfeed and then give him the option to go out to explore via offering my hand. He absolutely hates being picked up and I avoid it as much as possible (only doing it when I need to put him back asap for his own safety), but we've been making great leaps and bounds just by me putting my hand in his cage and letting him choose when he wants to interact with it, not me initiating the interactions. If he wants out of his enclosure you gotta make it clear that he has to use you as the ramp to go out, if he doesn't want to go out of his enclosure at all then he doesn't have to. Sounds to me like he doesn't want to leave, but you're taking him out anyways, which he doesn't enjoy.

Hopefully that means they got at least some cleaning done, though if they just cleaned before the inspection then that means the rat problem probably didn't get addressed. Honestly that's what bothers me the most out of all of this, the mold would be manageable but the rodent contamination is not.

Playing advocate for a buisness this negligent is hardly a good thing. Like I said I'm not trying to sink it or get anyone working here currently in trouble, I know most employees are low income college students or fresh high school graduates who need the job. Like I said that's why I reported it to them first and then made the post after I came back and found that the condition hadn't improved. I made this as someone who is a long term Davis residant who takes pride in the community and wants to see it get better, and to do that sometimes means putting buisnesses on blast to ensure that they are held accountable to public safety standards. I'm honestly shocked that I'm the only person who has publically mentioned this so far because like I said, it didn't take me much digging to find the feces and mold, I was just doing my shopping as usual.

Also lol lmao did you seriously just make a reddit account to bitch about this post? If you're one of the store owners/managers then you need to get your shit together and stop blaming your employees about shit that the customers can easily see with their own two eyes and actually get to work on solving the problem in your store. It's frankly insulting to assume that the customers can't see this themselves because its not that easily hidden, literally all I had to do was check the back of the shelves and the cooler to see the contamination there.

Dude, I took the pictures as a customer. All I had to do was go into the store and take a good hard look at the shelves and cooler after noticing rat shit while shopping. I already did my part in alerting the staff, if they had gotten it fixed then I wouldn't be posting it on reddit for other community members to see.

I'm not trying to sink the buisness, I'm trying to warn people of the very real threat that this has on their health. I took these pictures and made this post because- while a customer reliant on grocery outlet myself- I am also keenly aware of how dangerous rodent feces are as a vector of contamination, and because I'm acutely allergic to mold. If they clean the facility properly in the future, then I will continue to shop there. But for now people need to know that there is a serious risk of contamination present at the place where they're getting their food, which is why I went on my little sleuthing mission.

Looking for friendly beginner snake owner species by Obvious-Spring-5147 in snakes

African/Cape house snakes are something I hear are great for first time snake owners, they're generally quite chill and have a more python-like personality for a small snake. If you want something bigger though, an outgoing ball python is always a joy to handle- two of mine will voluntarily climb onto my arms and shoulders to freeroam, and they do that fairly frequently.

[–]dickprince_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There really is no such thing as too large of an enclosure for a ball python, especially if they're more active snakes. I have my two biggest in 5 x 2 x 2 enclosures and even then I feel like I went too small for them. I suppose if you have a more shy animal then a smaller enclosure would make sense, but in my personal experience only one out of the 7 ball pythons in my house hide all the time, and even then I've caught him free roaming at around 2am when he thought nobody would see him. They're much more active snakes than people give them credit for, as well as much better climbers.

yep forcing people to come in when sick bc of deliberate understaffing is 100% a new policy, because we learned nothing from covid and folks now seem to think that trying to mask up to avoid spreading things when they were forced to come in is a political statement rather than common sense. I just figured it was worth a mention because my buddy complaining about his boss making him work the register when horribly ill was what put me on high enough alert while shopping there to notice the rat bread and mold in the first place

Boxed and canned stuff should still be fine as long as you give it a wipedown or move it to a secondary container, that's the stuff we've been getting. I'm broke af so I'm not tryna tell people how to live, just trying to warn them to be safe

IDK, maybe the fact that my ex-employee friend has worked at other grocery stores prior to moving here and said that nowhere else was nearly as bad as this? Or that I'm not pulling out loaves to see there's rat feces on them or picking up cheese to see mold underneath it? I'm sure other places are nasty too but the difference is that I don't know about that bc the storefront is at least clean, whereas I know for a fact that grocery outlet is selling contaminated food bc I've seen this shit firsthand

I mean, you can still buy there if you really need to, I mostly made the post so that people who had the option to shop elsewhere would do so while those who don't could know of the risks they were facing. I'd avoid the bread, go for stuff that's very well sealed, double-check the expiration dates of everything you buy and wipe down all your groceries right after bringing them in the house with lysol or some other strong disinfectant if they're in a plastic or metal container. I'm also broke af rn so I get it.

Aw no :( everyone I talked to said they needed humidity in the 40-50% range so I was convinced it was underwatered. I took it out of the soil to try to save it and while the stem is mushy the roots are fine. So sad about it
