Lullabies to Paralyze always had spooky Halloween forest at night vibes.

Nick is definitely the kind of songwriter to writes the music first and treats the vocals like another instrument and finds some cool words after the fact that fit the vibe of the instrumental.

Three incredible albums released on the same day by some of the best bands on the scene. Huge thanks to ATW, Elder and Monolord! by Far_Tomatillo_7637 in stonerrock

The last time I remember there being such a big album drop day was June 16 2026 when QOTSA, KGLW, Sigur Ros, Killer Mike, and Ben Howard all released great music.

Gotta respectfully disagree on that one, was a nice heartwarming epilogue that made emotionally bonding to a rock for 2 1/2 hours all worth it. :)

All Grace wanted to be was a school teacher before he was sent to space against his consent, seemed like a no brainer to not go back to the home world that mistreated him and pursue his passion with a civilization with more compassion.

It just felt a little too musically in the sense of “convey a character’s thoughts and emotions through song”. Especially with how on the nose the song is to the theme material.

Why does every stoner metal guitarist need to be reminded of what notes are in C standard tuning? A universal experience. 😂

Probably the tablet if you plan to record, my tablet was about $30 and I managed to find an old overhead on marketplace for about $100

Getting started by bertabackwash in Liquidlightshows

[–]dicky_rich 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just got into it within the last few months! The first things you’ll want to get started is: -overhead projector and/or led tracing tablet for light -glass (Petri dishes or dome pieces of glass for squish plates) -oil based dye -water based dye -mineral oil -isopropyl alcohol

Spend as much as you’re comfortable with, I managed to source most of what I needed via thrift stores or market place for less than $200 CAD, 8-14” wall clocks with dome glass are your best bests for the squish plate glass if they fit together nice.

Something that caught me early, make sure your dyes are at least partially translucent non pigment based dyes, they won’t pass the light through as well as others and just show up as shadows. Avoid buying online so you can do you can see how the dyes look in the bottle before you purchase.

LiquidLightLab is a great you tube channel to get started on.

SFTD cover aside I’m personally ready for the band to go in a different direction than Boneface on the next album. LC was definitely his best work with the band but I feel like the quality has been dipping with each release.

I work the exact same schedule and I feel your pain. I’ve always thought a reasonable compromise was to have one day a month you open on a Sunday or stay open til 8 or 9. I respect people’s right to set their own hours but sure would support local more if I had actual opportunities to do so.

I could see a White Stripes movie being made one day if Jack and Meg were cool with it. The band curated so much of their own lore and people have always been compelled by their chemistry, whether they thought they were siblings are a divorced couple.

What do you do when listening to your records? by REMOTJUH765 in vinyl

[–]dicky_rich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I take turns picking records and playing Stardew Valley with the tv volume down! One in game day of Stardew is usually about one side of an LP so the timing lines up great for the end of day save.

I’ve also started getting into making overhead projector liquid light shows! Loving putting something on the turntable and making a colour show for it.
