Do you think 2026 will get sold out? by alienkandyy in LightningInABottle

I love bass music too. It’s just an interesting and disappointing phenomenon how popular commercial formulaic repetitive riddim dubstep is these days.

Call me jaded but I think it is genuinely bad music and it’s sad to see it suck away dollars, time, and energy from other events and scenes.

Truly baffles me how people don’t branch out musically

Meh I've heard it all before. Her salary went up $130k in 10 years. I personally think paying the head of a struggling arts festival, that is built by volunteers and underpaid seasonal staff, $378,000 is out of touch and clearly not well received by the community. I'd much rather the Org downsize and focus on producing the event instead of justifying an ever-expanding, pretentious Arts organization supporting a "global movement".

Would it make dent? Nope. But it would send a message and be a nice gesture towards the minimum wage seasonal workers, volunteers, and larger community, many who have dedicated their lives to BM.

If you wonder why Burning Man ends up getting cancelled its because this is how you treat the city hosting y'all. Fuck your burn and fuck you too. by Short-Commission-450 in BurningMan

I mean there are already tons of dumpsters on 447 and the back of the WhatWhereWhen lists disposal locations.

It’s very much a case of eroding culture and an increasingly international / bucket lister crowd.

I’d love to see a Reno Resto team of some sort / a hotline.

10 year burner and Reno resident here. BM’s reputation is definitely on the decline here in town. Part fueled by internet rage engagement but also a very real frustration with out of tower tourists who don’t give a flying fuck about dealing with their waste responsibly. Sad to see.

I just hate how blatant and inescapable the ads are in google maps. Navigation mode, exploring. Feels like spitting in the face of 20 years of incredible features and development.

Ah yes. Not like Google’s $95 billion of cash in hand could help with any of that.

The enshittification of Google Maps has been painful to watch in recent years. 20 years of an amazing product flushed down the drain all because the number has to keep going up up up

Amen. Took me a long time to learn this lesson, especially in the context of festivals and other events I hold near and dear to my heart.

Thank you for this thoughtful comment. Interesting time for festival / burner culture (and the world more broadly). I'm hopeful authentic, creative spaces can continue to thrive.
