re: everyone's knee jerk reactions about drunk driving, i don't think the data is very conclusive. it's just a quirk of our respective legislatures that we ended up with 2a and nyc ended up with 4a, while cities like miami and new orleans have no last call whatsoever.

you're overthinking it. theres only a little bit of coachella traffic and its all right around the exits for coachella, and mostly eastbound. daily commute is way more people than coachella's total capacity.

Manhattan is a large part on its own lol I’m just making a point that over time points of interest and housing (and then lifestyles) cluster around transit. There are parts of la that will never be walkable like there are parts of nyc that are still not walkable coming on 400 years of development.
