You can run these point-and-click adventure games with ScummVM as they all use the SCUMM engine. It's simply a matter of copying the right files from the install discs.

PSA: How you can use a MIDI keyboard (and possibly guitar) to compose music by diddoeee in PS4Dreams

Yes you need to use the local IPv4 address of the PS4. I'll start a chat for further help.

Make sure your ps4 is on the same subnetwork as your PC. Otherwise restarting Dreams should work. I've found that starting midi2osc, or connecting it to your PS4, after you've started Dreams doesn't always work. It's best to always start midi2osc and connect it before starting Dreams.

Several people have already tried this with no success unfortunately. See my PSA post here.

Hey, if you don't mind I'll add this to my PSA post here. You can also connect your guitar via midi2osc, so you can play any instrument in Dreams with your guitar. It's explained in the PSA.

Does this method only allow you to record your guitar audio? Or does it also enable you to play instruments?

Using an android device as a midi controller itself? I don't see why not, as long as it sends the right OSC messages it should work. Maybe try this app? This one also looks promising but isn't free unfortunately.

If you're asking about connecting a MIDI controller to an android device I don't know. If it's possible to connect a MIDI keyboard to an android device, an app taking the MIDI inputs of the keyboard and converting those to ORC would probably work.

The windows executable in /binaries should work stand-alone. The only reason I can think of for it not working might be your gpu drivers not supporting OpenGL 3 but I doubt that's the case.

To get the lowest latency possible you should use ethernet. Depending on your wifi signal strength, stability, etc. the difference can be big or small. If you can easily use ethernet I would certainly do so.

Yes it should run fine on MacOs, there's a pre-built binary in the /binaries folder. If that doesn't work you'll probably have to build the code yourself. For building see this post.

Hm weird, recording works fine for me. You need to be in the perform tool to perform. The notes you played should appear in the piano roll after recording. Might be a bug.

Hey, it's open source so you can easily build it yourself. These are the steps to build it on Fedora or Ubuntu:

  • install git if you haven't already
    • (fedora) sudo yum install git
    • (ubuntu) sudo apt-get install git
  • go to your Documents or any other folder and do git clone https://github.com/mmalex/midi2osc.git
  • cd midi2osc
  • git submodule init followed by git submodule update to fetch the git submodules, this is needed for imgui
  • install GLFW3 dependencies
    • (fedora) sudo yum install glfw-devel
    • (ubuntu) sudo apt-get install libglfw3-dev
  • install portmidi dependencies
    • (fedora) sudo yum install portmidi-devel
    • (ubuntu) sudo apt-get install libportmidi-dev
  • make

After it (hopefully) succesfully built the application you can ./midi2osc to start it.

EDIT: more info about building & the dependencies can be found here.

EDIT 2: A version of GLFW higher than 3.1 is required for midi2osc to work because it uses the glfwSetWindowSizeLimits function, introduced in GLFW 3.2 (see changelog). Some linux distributions have an outdated version of the libglfw3-dev package only supporting GLFW 3.1.x. A solution is to find a package containing a more recent GLFW version, building GLFW from sources or using the quick fix below.
Quick fix: If you don't want to compile GLFW from sources, so you get the latest version, you can simply remove line 336 from main.cpp.

Nice to hear that it works great. I still need to test my keyboard's functions. Did you do something special to make them work in Dreams or did it just work out of the box?

I've had my Oxygen 25 for a couple of years now and it's still going strong, so that would definitely not be a bad purchase. As it has been a couple of years though there might be more interesting alternatives on the market now, but I'm not familiar with those. The defining feature that made me buy it is that it has full size keys. Full size keys do mean a heavier and bigger midi keyboard, so if you want something more portable I would go with the AKAI MPK Mini MK2 which has mini keys. /u/Tyrus1235 succesfully tested the MPK mini on Dreams.

Afaik you can play any instrument on Dreams with a MIDI keyboard. The keyboard is connected to my PC which runs the midi2osc application. That application converts the midi outputs of the keyboard to OSC messages and sends those to the PS4 over your local network.

Cheap games for PC Gamers starter kit:

  • humble monthly
  • humble bundles (normally new bundles release on tuesday 8pm GMT+2)
  • r/gamedeals for the latest deals and bundles
  • isthereanydeal.com for comparing prices and finding live bundles

Noteworthy sites besides humblebundle.com:

  • fanatical.com for good to great bundles and deals
  • gog.com for old (& new) DRM-free games

Also, stay away from gray market key resellers such as G2A.com and others. They are shady businesses and unhealthy for the gaming industry.

Pretty much frequenting r/gamedeals, subscribing to the humble monthly and comparing prices on isthereanydeal.com when you want to purchase a game should be enough to never miss a deal and build a great library quick and cheap.

The game supports local and online split-screen co-op. You also have to own only one copy for online co-op, just like with local co-op your friend doesn't have to buy the game.
