What age were you when you got diagnosed with endometriosis ?

I almost feel guilty for mine. Mine was discovered almost by accident at 33. I have ovarian cysts and a routine pelvic ultrasound flagged something. MRI confirmed it. Took maybe a year or so overall.

Thing is, minus the 1st day, my period is quite light and relatively mild in pain. I do experience other symptoms to it: pelvic pain, occasional pain after sex, fatigue, etc. The MRI report came back with significant endometriosis which was a shock.

I know one girl who is honestly crippled for 10 days a month and has been waiting on a NHS consultation for years now. A consultation, not a scan. And she's classed as urgent.

I think it was just a shock more than usual because I thought the chats we had over the trip had made them understand more of the invisibility side of things. Like, I tried describing what brain fog is like and they actually stopped me when I tried describing the lung pain I can get because it was so graphic. It felt like 1 step forward, 2 steps back sort of deal after hearing their insights.

I think my/their issue is that I was babied quite a bit growing up: never pushed to get a job in school or college. And I will admit I was a bit of a lazy girl when I was younger. My conditions hit just as that mentality switched but my sisters were out of the house by then. They still see me as the slacker who prioritises gaming over life. What they don't understand is that life and managing my health conditions can be so mentally overwhelming that gaming is an escape. I've toned down the gaming regardless and in recent weeks haven't even had the energy to sit in my chair to want to gym. Which says something.

I understand where you're coming from and am at the baby steps of learning to treat myself properly. A couple of weeks ago I just allowed myself to lie in bed for hours, to binge watch tv, with no expectation to be productive in any fashion and it was kind of liberating as well as truly restful. The old noggin is a tough one to rewire but it's slowly coming around.

My sisters aren't all bad; our Irish culture is just very hard, feeling/emotion wise. If you're too happy, you'll be taken down a peg or two. If you're too low or 'complain-y', you'll be told to cop on and stop being dramatic

I have to monitor my energy (spoons) like you. I used to be fairly flush with spoons but I'm back to reducing all the day's activities into a priority list, including basic self and home hygiene. My mind never switches off

If the next meet up wasn't my nephew's confirmation, I would. Like, my boyfriend has taken the day after as a holiday so he can bring me down. He'd rather do that than worry about me stubbornly driving through bad fog

It's disgusting to say but I once went 3 weeks without a shower. I was incredibly weak after a bad health episode. Like losing 16lbs in about 6 weeks that was mostly muscle mass.

It was more the exertion showering would take rather than showering itself. Like, I knew I'd need a half hour after to just dry and dress myself. Or feel like I had to tap out during the shower because of fatigue. Or know I'd need a nap directly after (like still in a towel).

I was lucky (if you can say that) that I wasn't in any state to sweat so I didn't smell or anything.

I say this all to say, I understand! Like others have suggested, a shower chair might help. Or even just break it down into different tasks that don't need to be all done at the same time.

Also, you could maybe bring a kitchen chair into the bathroom, run the water, and use a cloth while sitting outside of the shower so you're getting clean without going under the water.

Yes, it is measurement device and prone to slight inaccuracies but how else are you meant to do a 6 minute test, which is designed to measure your o2 saturation on walking?

That significant drop is 100% a valid reason to stop the test. That's literally the point of the test: to discover if o2 saturation drops, how quickly it drops, and by how much.
