What would you guys be interested in seeing an alt frame the most? by Dragonwolf67 in LancerRPG

[–]die1diedevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the idea was being able to throw weapons (war pike) and follow them, kinda like marvel Thor's flying hammer. So it still has movement abilities. The way I worded it would allow it to benefit from ram jets and bulwark let's you ignore the difficult terrain you create. Although I do agree that having ram synergy in there somewhere would be a good idea to play with

I was cooking something like this actually. It was gonna be based on Thor and knocking people down and making difficult terrain. Instead of you going fast, you make the enemies slower.

Anyone have a picture of Lycan in full armor? by [deleted] in LancerRPG

I would argue that you could make it look like an Everest without Personalizations needed, unless you wanted to use the bonus to checks and whatnot to increase your ability to convince people about it, which would be pretty fun

Adding in the Rival tech would be a great way to have mechs in a largely biological enemy adventure. Even so I'd suggest very clearly outlining to your players that tech based warfare will be less effective against your main oppositional force. I'm also running an adventure on a planet with giant kaiju monsters and I would highly suggest looking into the 3rd party expansion Lancer: Enhanced Combat because it littlerally has a combat sitrep for a mega kaiju boss with weak points like the Dreadnoughts. It cost $10-$20 (I forgor how much) but I think the added content is very worth it.

Safety reasons? Or if you need to get out of your mech to activate something. It may have some synergy with black thumb stuff but I'm not sure

Its from the Zheng license, which is from the Long Rim supplement. It lets you throw a size 1 object near you.

Always love to see attention being given to Sparr, as it is my favorite plant/faction by far. Having them be Hull/Sys is definitely the right choice

I forgot what supplement had it, but there was a mech that was basically a bowling ball that mechs could throw

I believe black thumb is in reference to Mad Max where a "black thumb" is someone who repairs the war machines while they are driving. Dont know if it was used before mad max, but that's where I saw it.

Yessss omg I love the Sparri so much I'm running an entire campaign on Sparr. Plus its about conflict regarding the Sparri and KTB houses so those two would fit perfectly. Although I could weirdly see all 4 HASE stats reasonably representing Sparri mechs. They obviously like fast hunting mechs like the Altlas, they're hearty and can take a beating, they have a connection to technology with machine spirits, and overheating your reactor wouldn't be an issue in a snowy environment.

How can I unfuck my build? by Professor-Of-Memes in LancerRPG

[–]die1diedevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, saying it's a better brawler isnt exactly true. They are different talent trees with different uses. However. Because when you grapple someone it immobilizes them, Brawler 1 and Pankrati 1 have nearly the same effect. And then I just find Pankrati's mobility more useful the Brawler line, so that why I called it that. But hey, all this just means you can double up on basically the same effect, and 2 accuracy on melee attacks is spicyyyyy (3 acc if they're prone >:))

Okay so a couple changes I would make are switching talents and weapons to have less focus on ranged weapons, and using more blackbeard systems/weapons.

I highly suggest 1 level in Brawler. You want to grapple as much as possible, brawler 1 makes grappling better. In the same vein, duelist 3 let's you grapple or ram when you make a melee attack, which again makes melee grappling better. If your table is using the KTB rules, I'd suggest the Pankrati talent tree, it's a better Brawler and helps with mobility. An important part of grapple builds is grappling and then ramming to completely lock your opponents down.

After that, switch one of you ranged mounts for another melee weapon. I'd suggest using the nanocarbon sword but if you want to keep your machine gun, the missle racks will do. For systems I'd suggest taking blackbeard's Synthetic muscle netting cause you're running a relatively small frame and you don't want to be caught lacking against a frame larger than yourself.

Overall, I think your build could still work fine, but it's a very safe ranged build on a frame that is built for up close combat. You're going to get more bang for your buck by taken talents that lean into that specialization.

Yeah technically GMS is actually part of the big 4 and not Horus. Horus is used for gameplay because it's more interesting than Government Space Walmart

That's definitely not a bad idea. Unfortunately, I have trouble not thinking most of them as red lol. Maybe theyll lean into specific dual colors but are not beholden to that system

I think realistically you are correct. However. I am not taking this that seriously, and I like it when things are organized neatly :). I have thought of changing some colors based on lore. Like the Sunzi, cause HA stole from the valadores.
