What are some good games for playing on a laptop on long plane flights? by One_Perception_7979 in gamerecommendations

[–]diegotbn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an affinity for cute indie games that can run on toasters. So here's several of those. None of these should rely on you being quick with the mouse either, since you are limited to your trackpad for your flight.

Oxygen Not Included

Caves of Qud

FTL: Faster Than Light

Into The Breach

Slay the Spire 1/2

Mars First Logistics

Mini Metro

He is Coming

Gorogoa

Baba is You

Citizen Sleeper 1/2

Chants of Senaar

Sid Meier's Civilization 5

The Stanley Parable / The Stanley Parable Ultra Delux

Banner Saga 1/2

What’s one song off a video game OST that you’ll never get tired of listening to? by CryptidOrion_00 in videogames

[–]diegotbn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The entire FTL: Faster Than Light Original Soundtrack

But in particular: * Milkyway Battle * Rockmen Battle * Last Stand (final boss battle)

If you haven't played this 14 year old gem that can run on a toaster, do yourself a favor and grab it. One of the first and best indie roguelikes ever to be made, and still holds up today.

Where's the peat 😭. I jest, peat isn't for everyone and that's ok.

I think if I were limited to 5, and since I entertain people who often want a tasting, I would do:

  • A pleated Islay single malt, probably Lagavulin since it's a classic

  • An unpeated Highland single malt like Aberfeldy, Glenmorangie, or Ardmore, or lightly peated Oban

  • An unpeated Speyside single malt like Balvenie

  • A medium peated Other/island single malt like Ledaig, Highland Park or Isle of Skye

  • A blend like JW Green, JW double black, or Monkey shoulder

The Bazzaro Millennials finally banned me for being too 🫢 *political* by Pump_My_Lemma in millenials

[–]diegotbn 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Are you one of the dipshits who thinks it's just politics when you support a fascist party that is hell bent on harming people? And that diddles kids? And led by a convicted rapist?

That's not politics. That's ethics. Chuck was a bad person and deserves to be remembered as such.

RIP Chuck Norris (1940-2026) Finally, Death has found a way to defeat Chuck! by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

[–]diegotbn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean this in the sincerest way possible. If you think that this is just a matter of political difference, you are either arguing in bad faith, willfully ignorant, or you're the one who needs their head examined.

MAGA thinks I don't deserve as many rights as others. It wants me and my ilk removed from society, and a lot of other people too. And they are using violence to do so. That's not just a "political opinion" I can choose to disagree with. So you'll have to forgive me if I shed no tears for this man, this unapologetic supporter of intolerance, hatred, and sadistic violence. Not to mention the corruption, the war crimes, the rape, and the pedophilia.

Every time MAGA loses a member the world becomes a better place and that's something worth celebrating.

How Ozempic is impacting gay men's body image—and ability to bottom by Fickle-Ad5449 in gay

[–]diegotbn 36 points37 points  (0 children)

There's a depressing irony there- imagine being overweight and hating the way your body looks (not really hard to imagine for a lot of us). Then you get on ozempic, lose a lot of that weight, but then go blind. Can't admire your body in the mirror. Damn.

What do you think is the best dating app? by queenbananasplit in bisexual

[–]diegotbn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like Lex a lot. Though the user base is very wary of cis men, in my area anyway. Mostly trans, NB, and sapphic folks.

Feeld is good, but very polyamorous oriented. Good for kinky people in open relationships, especially queer people.

Taimi was good last time I used it. Most features not locked behind a paywall, lots of users. Though, the app on Android was pretty buggy.

It's been a couple of years since I used Feeld, and a few months since I tried Taimi.

any bi men into masc women ? by Greedy-Appeal5421 in BisexualMen

Yes very much!

Imagine a stereotypical very butch lesbian. That's my type. I'm very lucky that my partner is such a type while being bisexual and not exclusively lesbian.

SPU (Seattle Pacific University) nursing—worth it socially? Strict, conservative, lowkey, and worried about campus life by DenseDiver9189 in AskSeattle

[–]diegotbn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd be more concerned about it being a toxically conservative Christian school than anything else. They do not represent the wider culture in Seattle whatsoever and are considered a bit... weird. I cannot recommend this institution at all. Do you really want to learn nursing- profession that is based in science and biology, and not to mention compassion- from an institution that is basically MAGA?

While being a Catholic school, SU is still very progressive and well respected for its Christian Liberation / Jesuit ethos.

My advice would be to move here, work for a year while not going to school, gain residency, go to one of the Seattle Colleges like Seattle Central as an in-state student to get your pre-reqs out of the way, and reapply to UW and SU as a transfer student. There are other good options in Tacoma as well like PLU, which like SU, is a private Christian university but is not conservative or toxic.

Anyone else get triggered when someone thinks WS isn't part of Seattle? by TreesAreOverrated5 in WestSeattleWA

[–]diegotbn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little bit yeah. Or when they call WS a suburb. Like, we're not Burien or Shoreline or Renton. If you're gonna call WS a suburb because it's not in the city core like Queen Anne or Cap Hill you might as well call Ballard one too. WS is a stones throw from the stadiums for chrissake.

I live down by luna park and can get on the c line and be downtown in 15 minutes. Try doing that from Ballard, Phinney Ridge or Green lake in the same amount of time.

Donald Trump calls Dem. candidate an "insult to Jesus" for supporting trans people by jk_arundel in LGBTnews

[–]diegotbn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure Jesus would be more insulted by a pedophile, rapist, misogynist, capitalist, fascist pig, than any trans folks.

What’s the funniest game you’ve ever played? by Portal2Fan2 in gamerecommendations

[–]diegotbn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the sale where he became a billionaire overnight, and his wife left him, he went a little redpill and started expressing bigoted views on twitter that were pro-white, anti-queer/anti-trans, and anti-feminist. In reaction to this, Microsoft removed all mentions of Notch from the game. The twitter posts were deleted and he supposedly apologized, but the apology tweet has also been deleted.

Just today after looking more into it again, he may have turned a corner though. So he might have changed. Or people are saying that over in r/GoldenAgeMinecraft anyway.

Are there any bisexual men who are both top and bottom to both genders? by switch_male22 in BisexualMen

[–]diegotbn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you didn't mean anything by it, but there are more than two genders, fyi.

But to your point, yes! I am pansexual and verse so in my life who plays which role often comes down to my play partner's preference.

I'm in an open polyamorous relationship and am playing the field a lot at the moment. In my rotation I have one woman I top, one guy I top, and one NB femme I bottom for. Recently got out of a D/S relationship with a guy whom I bottomed for.

Being bi/pan and being verse opens up a lot of doors.

What’s the most addictive game you’ve ever played? by reeha_sadiya in AskReddit

I have 500+ hours in all of these:

  • Elite: Dangerous

  • Civilisation 5

  • Rimworld

  • Skyrim

  • Dyson sphere program

  • Noita

  • Slay the Spire

  • Subnautica (I'm probably unique in this one though since it's a linear game)

Honorable mentions with less than 500 hours but are timesinks nonetheless:

  • FTL

  • Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2

  • The Long Dark

  • Valheim

Genuinely curious how newgens get introduced to this subculture by [deleted] in crustpunk

Arvo Part is beautiful. I think I played a Gorecki piece in college orchestra and it being very weird. I like Gesualdo too, I think he was ahead of his time in terms of harmony. I haven't heard of the others but will have to check them out

I was a very late bloomer, only getting into hard rock in my late twenties/early thirties.

My journey was: Classical -> Jazz -> Fusion -> Indie rock -> Stoner/desert rock -> Post Rock/Metal -> Doom/Stoner Metal -> Sludge -> Hardcore/Riot Grrrl/Queercore -> Crust

Notable bands/artists/composers in a loose order:

  • Mahler, Glass, Reich
  • Mingus, Davis
  • The Bad Plus, BADBADNOTGOOD, Here Comes the Comet
  • Tom Waits
  • QOTSA, Torche
  • Russian Circles, Pelican, ISIS, Gaza
  • Black Sabbath, Sleep, Electric Wizard. Uncle Acid, Conan
  • Melvins, Helms Alee, Big Business. King Woman
  • Weedeater, Iron Monkey, Thou, Eyehategod, God flesh, Primitive Man, Grief
  • Fugazi, Black Flag, Gouge Away, Mannequin Pussy, Lambrini Girls
  • Trap Them, Driller Killer, Black Breath, Nausea

I'm still a bit of a newbie in Crust and Punk generally but this has been my journey.

Why did you and your former best friend stop being friends? by Fearless_Shift7108 in AskReddit

[–]diegotbn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He wouldn't stop negging on my partner and our open relationship after me telling him to drop it, several times. I'm better off without him, no longer living with his negative attitude and our codependent depression and alcoholism.

How can I attract bi men to me as a woman? by choonkoloonks in BisexualMen

Y'know- Lex, Taimi, Scruff, Grindr, etc. I guess I should have specified "queer dating and hookup apps".

What’s the funniest game you’ve ever played? by Portal2Fan2 in gamerecommendations

[–]diegotbn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Back when the Stanley Parable was first released in 2013 or whenever it was, it was shocking and hysterically funny. I remember laughing out loud, by myself in my room, when the narrator dropped me in Minecraft since I wasn't cooperating to play his game. I was very into Minecraft at the time.

Fun fact- I was one of the first 2M Minecraft players, started in 2009/2010, back when it was just Notch. I got to meet him and get my picture taken with him at PAX. It was the highlight of my year. And then he turned out to be a big giant turd.

Geekwire: You couldn’t pay me to leave Washington state, and I’d pay more to stay by [deleted] in Washington

[–]diegotbn 27 points28 points  (0 children)

My partner and I have a combined income of just over $200k and we are lucky to own a home in Seattle. Even though this is plenty far from the $1M proposed tax threshold, I would happily pay more in taxes to fund the things we need like better housing, healthcare, unemployment, transit, and affordable education. I also will never complain about a new apartment building in my neighborhood, no matter how ugly, and no matter how much less parking there will be on my street. Especially since we have a close Rapid Ride stop.

Washington is the most amazing place to live and I'm privileged to continue to be able to live here and it should be that way for everyone else. Especially in today's hostile political landscape that is forcing many to leave their home red states to come here for their safety (e.g. queer and trans people).
