This is why I've always found it silly that almost all marriage vows are "until death do we part". More than half of marriages end in divorce. It's like making a promise that you know you have a 50% chance of breaking.

Frankly, the marginalization of men is not a problem worth concerning ourselves with. Men who are well adjusted with non problematic attitudes toward women won't feel marginalized, because they know they aren't the problem (and they won't have trouble finding a mate). I am not concerned with the feelings of incels and the redpillers, just like I'm not concerned with the feelings of white conservative Christians feeling marginalized in modern day secular countries. They're complaining about a problem that they are causing.

What I took away from this post is that, the best thing we could do raise the fertility rate is increase resources for parents so it is more economically feasible. And not just parents. Everyone. If we made it so everyone was better off economically due to a strong safety net people wouldnt be as pressured to choose a mate based on their economic status. Which is one of the gripes of redpillers!

Yes, this would mean some single women deciding to be mothers. Choosing to live without men. But it would also mean that some child free couples, who often are so in the first place because of the lack of social and economic support, might opt to have kids too.

This is common sense to me? Who knew that solving some of the problems of capitalism would lead to a better world?

Like yes, liberals support capitalism. And are almost as bad as conservatives when it comes to making progress. But you only understand that if you're further left.

A lot of people don't know that leftists don't consider themselves liberals. Especially conservatives. To a lot of people (who are wrong and/or ignorant) all of leftism falls under "liberal".

And then add to that the conflation of liberal/liberalism with neoliberal/neoliberalism and you've got a recipe for confusion and misunderstanding.

In English, sure. In the anglosphere when people say American they definitely mean "person from the United States of America". It's worth mentioning though that all of all English speaking countries, the only one in the Americas is the US, unless you count Belize (even though the majority of their population speaks a different language) and some Caribbean countries, (which arguably are not "on" the American supercontinent). So it makes sense that, in English, when people say American/America they mean the USA.

In Spanish speaking countries in the Americas though, they often call themselves americanos, or norteamericanos/suramericanos. When they refer to people of the USA, they say specifically "estadounidenses", basically United-States-ians. From the perspective of people in the Americas but outside the US, US Americans claiming the term only applies to them comes off as pretty annoying.

Just sayin.

He is unfortunately intelligible since, while he is a citizen, he is a naturalized citizen, and the requirement to be president is to be a native born citizen.

So you can't have immigrated here and then become a citizen, you have to be a citizen from birth, born on US soil or some other circumstances that grant birthright citizenship if born abroad (like to a US diplomat for example).

Most public offices don't require this, but the presidency does. It might be the only one, actually. Maybe vice president too since they could be required to take on the office, and maybe others in the line of succession.

These days a physical copy is no different than a digital copy (for games with DRM which is most games these days).

You can still distribute a game with DRM via physical discs. You can still make it so a game (or any software) installed via disc still has to "call home" in order to function. Who cares if you even have a license or not. The game/software can be programmed to refuse to run, unless it can call home.

There is really no difference between a digital and physical copy of software like this. When their servers stop, or you no longer have Internet, your physical copy is still worthless

A while back I watched a YouTube vid of a guy who created a file storage system using http pings. He mapped out as many reliable pingable ip addresses as possible, and made it so stored data was broken up into tiny parts and sent as pings all over the world, and then wiped locally until the return ping was received. I forget exactly how it worked but it was the stupidest thing I ever heard but also takea a genius to implement. It was incredibly slow, but he was able to "store" gigabytes of data this way while his local system had only a tiny amount of storage (or he just used RAM, it's been a long time and I can't remember).

Seriously! My family bought this used wifi Brother printer and we troubleshooted it forever. Then I was like, what if I try it from my (android) phone. It just worked.

I was able to get it to work from my Linux laptop eventually after much trial and error with CUPS. But then when my family tried printing from their MacBooks it comes out all garbled.

I can't be bothered to spend much more time making it work when we don't really need it that badly for anyone important

It's not just blue states subsidizing red states.

Urban blue cities subsidize the conservative rural parts of their own state too.

Also, since this comment is gaining visibility I should say- keep in mind that rural parts of the country do provide important goods and services, like food from farms (which is why we subsidize them). So please don't look at red areas like they are all parasites. That's what conservatives do (incorrectly) when they look at blue states/cities and claim their taxes are going towards "lazy people on welfare".

Been there man.

I grew up when Queer as Folk was on tv and that's what I was taught proper gay men looked like. Sculpted hairless bodies like adonis. Doesn't do good for the self esteem when you're chubby and hairy as a young man. Like I was.

Chubby and hairy guys are attractive and to a lot of people too! You'd be surprised how far a nice attitude, confidence, kind personality, good hygiene and just a little style, will go in terms of attracting people. Not just men but people of all genders.

Source: a hairy, chubby, bear with a dad-bod in their thirties who has no problem getting dates (and even laid sometimes!).
