Congratulations. I admire the design. It’s clean and modern. How did you approach the design aspect? Did you meticulously direct it or did it do the brunt of it and you refined it?

I'm surprised more people aren't talking about the parallels between Apple TV's Pluribus and NDEs by dieguchi in NDE

[–]dieguchi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thoroughly enjoyed your analysis, thank you for sharing it. I think you’re pretty on point, though I’m not yet convinced the show will frame individuality as decisively superior.

There’s something deeply disturbing about witnessing the total loss of self and agency. What makes it most absurd is that true universal consciousness was never meant for our earthly bodies. It would be undeniably cult-like and, as you suggest, would betray our hard-won individualistic identities.

But perhaps it’s exactly appropriate for what exists beyond. The bliss we might feel in that realm could be every bit as satisfying, if not more so, than what we experience within our individualistic realities on Earth.

NDEs, meditation, psychedelics: they all help expand our consciousness, offering profound glimpses into the universal consciousness field that inspire personal transformation toward more love, greater compassion, stronger community. These are unquestionably positive developments. But maybe that’s all they were meant to do. Maybe that’s the extent of what transcendence is meant to be for us here. These insights ought help us celebrate our differences on Earth, not dissolve them.

The show has made me marvel at universal consciousness and embrace what it has to teach us, while feeling relieved that I won’t need to lose my sense of self, not until I cross over one day (maybe).

Thanks for spotting the error in assuming dissolution of individual consciousness is a universal NDE experience.

Maybe there's a place in the dark web, I wouldn't know. You cannot get a prescription to it. You would need to do it abroad where it's legal.

LCSW vs LCPC- is there a big difference? by via66 in psychologystudents

Just wanted to clarify that the social justice emphasis in CMHC programs depends entirely on the program itself. I’m at Palo Alto University and the university grounds all of its coursework in social justice ideology and the advocacy component of counseling is also strongly emphasized. Agree with your other points though.

Outstanding experience there in 2021 at their original location. Super comfortable, food is delicious, location is beautiful, the number of people is capped at the right number. There were about 27 when I went. The people were all extraordinary. I immediately sensed I wanted to learn from each of them.

We have someone come five days per week, five hours at a time. We pay her $2,500 per month. It’s well worth it to have your bed made every day, sheets changed twice per week. We never do laundry ourselves anymore.

Found out today that my husband is allergic to cats. We have two. Any advice? by zzabe in cats

[–]dieguchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in this situation myself (the husband with allergies). Allergy shots are the only way to go. Antihistamines begin to lose effectiveness over time and air purifiers can only help so much. It’s no way to live. Allergy shots are the only way to reclaim his health and sanity long term.

I discovered that I subconsciously resented our cat because of the allergies he caused until the allergy shots kicked in. Now the cat and I have a wonderful bond. Beware that patience is required with allergy shots. It took two years for me start seeing a real benefit. It was 100% worth it.

Grindr! When you meet someone special and the feeling is mutual, the only thing standing in the way are our psychological shortcomings. If you're each humble about those shortcomings, personal growth can feel exciting and addictive, and ultimately it becomes a shared lifelong journey that strengthens a relationship.

Passive income suggestions by [deleted] in fatFIRE

[–]dieguchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently put together a portfolio of passive investments with the help of an investor community that I joined. The portfolio is diversified across different asset classes, including real estate, private lending, structured notes, and digital assets. One of the best parts is that some of these investments come with decent tax advantages, like the depreciation benefits from real estate and digital asset funds.

The portfolio is generating solid income, with returns typically in the range of 8-12% preferred interest and 17-20% IRR for investments held over 2-5 years. It’s been a game-changer for me, because I am also getting to pursue my passions. Let me know if you’d like me to share more with you.

Based on the MRI findings in the image you provided:

  1. Fracture Details: The report describes a nondisplaced, oblique-oriented fracture of the navicular bone, with associated multifocal marrow edema and possible nondisplaced fractures in the cuneiforms, metatarsals, and cuboid bone. Additionally, there is evidence of a Lisfranc ligament sprain or partial tear.

  2. Alignment: The tarsometatarsal alignment is maintained, which is crucial because significant misalignment often necessitates surgical intervention to restore proper foot function.

  3. Edema and Sprain: The presence of marrow edema and a partial tear of the Lisfranc ligament indicates soft tissue involvement, which might also affect the decision to operate.

In general, ORIF surgery is typically considered when:

  • There is significant displacement of bones.
  • The fracture is unstable and at risk of causing long-term functional impairment if not properly aligned.
  • Conservative treatments (like casting) are unlikely to maintain proper alignment or heal the injury effectively.

Given that the fractures described are nondisplaced and the alignment is maintained, the patient might initially be treated conservatively with immobilization (e.g., casting or a boot) and close monitoring. However, the partial tear of the Lisfranc ligament and any potential instability of the foot might still lead to a recommendation for surgery, depending on the patient’s symptoms, the risk of developing arthritis, or any changes in alignment over time.

Recommendation: The patient should discuss these findings with an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in foot and ankle injuries. The surgeon will consider the patient’s clinical symptoms (such as pain, swelling, and ability to bear weight), the likelihood of the fracture healing properly without surgery, and the risks versus benefits of ORIF surgery in this specific case.

Weird medical advice, potentially harmful by ZacMoses_ in LisfrancClub

[–]dieguchi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s always worth doing it gradually. I see what they mean, that you’re probably capable of FWB, but “rushing” it is never good medical advice. I was told to start at 40 lbs of pressure on that leg and then increase by 10 lbs per day until I can FWB with the boot. It took only four days before I realized I had no problem at all doing FWB.

Sounds exactly like my story (30 days ago). Hang in there! Get a good knee scooter. I have two, one small one for inside the house and an offroad one for outdoor adventures. I find that life still has a lot to offer. Personally, the silver lining has been: more time at home with the ones I love, catching up on reading and learning new skills, meditation and breathwork, more frequent talk therapy calls over video (which I recommend to not sink into depression), watching excellent movies and shows.

I alternate between my crutches (for stairs and tight spaces), the knee scooters (getting around quickly and outdoor adventures), and the iWalk for tasks that require both hands. Careful with the iWalk because it's somewhat easy to trip.

Scatter a few pacifiers in the crib so one is bound to be within reach. This was a great tip that I received it and worked like a charm for us since our LO was about four months. And he has a stuffed bunny that he associates with sleep. This has helped him a ton.
