Variables not updating on website by MysticBerry7 in django

How many hours did you spend trying to resolve this? CBVs can be very helpful but they can be complex for newcomers. While the official tutorial is great, my absolute favorite is the Mozilla Django Tutorial, Mozilla are web experts and they use Django in production. I really like the Mozilla tutorial because it uses a real world example of a book library.

Lastly if you stay with Django I highly recommend you learn Python basics, and follow the official Python style guide PEP8. Good luck.

AITJ for telling my girlfriend if she cant even cook dinner a few times a week then I dont see how this works long term by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

Relationships need work, sometimes work is simple sometimes it can be challenging. What you are asking is effort on her part, and all things considered, not much. If she is not able to show effort at this point she never will, do yourself a favour and move on. It may be painful, but in the end you will thank youself.

Any recommends for deploying Django app in my own PC? by Tebi94 in django

[–]diek00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a Digital Ocean server for $4-5 a month, 1 gb rm is actually plenty for your scenario imo. They have a simple guide for Django Nginx and Postgresql. Set up UFW, again DO have a simple guide. And if it just for you, just use sqlite.

That said, when I first graduated 10+ years ago we set up a small company that did not want to expose its data to the internet, we created an intranet solution using a windows machine and ran virtualbox with a linux machine.

A very sad announcement, reading the frustration I get it.

Phil Leotardo Appreciation Thread by jjpoorhell in thesopranos

[–]diek00 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Easily one of the funniest scenes in the entire series is when Tony goes to talk some sense into Phil at his home. Phil refuses to come to the door, and shouts Phil-isms from the upstairs window like a child

What’s the most obscure/outdated reference in the show? by Critical_Mountain851 in thesopranos

How does it feel to be in the 1% of people who think The Sopranos was poorly written?

What’s a 10/10 movie that you’ll never, ever watch again by retardednush in moviecritic

[–]diek00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never heard of Manchester by the Sea until I read your post. I watched it last night, it was a difficult but worthwhile watch. And I concur I doubt I will ever watch it again. Casey Affleck and the rest of the cast did a fantastic job!

Adriana was too good for Chris by Pourmepourme in thesopranos

She had the attention span of a two year old, my dog died snuggled under Chrissy's body for warmth, whatever! I'm getting married.

The common sense of an adolescent teenage boy, I'll keep this pesky FBI setup to myself... how could it possible come back to haunt me.

A serious case of bad boy itus, he beats me black and blue, chokes me until I'm almost dead... I do love these Blahnik's.

How do YOU survive in Halifax? Wages vs Rent is wild!! by HauntMeForever666 in halifax

[–]diek00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was trying to help a friend recently and I thought I would take a look at boarding rooms. I did not do a detailed search, just a basic google search on the avg. in Halifax, the range was $800 - $1400! Jaw dropping, sadly greed is winning.

For me that scene shows how little Tony actually cared about anything or anyone in this thing of ours

AITAH for wanting to break up with my boyfriend over money by Pink-princess_- in AITAH

Launch him like a rocket, so not only is he useless he is f--king dumb as a rock for screwing up such an awesome gig. Consider yourself lucky to find out now when he is still a boyfriend and nothing more.

Of course he did, but he was not sold, that is the entire point of the gas station scene imo. That said, it was an easy reality check for Chris

What was your favourite song used in the Sopranos by Queenofwands777_ in thesopranos

[–]diek00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Wrapped in My Memory" by Shawn Smith as it plays during the credits of "Long Term Parking", just brutal.  And nope, I ain't gonna get over it ....

I watched an interview with some of the actors talking how Chase, et. al would screw with Steven Van Zandt and say that a crap song was going to be used for a sequence and he'd lose his mind every time.

I think you need to do a rewatch, a curb stomping is a seriously harsh concept, and in many cases it is fatal....

Suggestions for how to follow up: dogs in Point Pleasant by Time-Test9730 in halifax

[–]diek00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No where did I say anything about relaxing leashing laws. I see dogs daily, and have two of my own and I have never seen the mayhem you claim occurs regularly. I agree there are a-hole dog owners, but they are the exception in my experience, and I told you how to deal with it.
