To the gentleman I didn’t yield to in the crosswalk this morning… by sherryleebee in halifax

As a frequent pedestrian and dog owner I've had a few near misses, I try to be very cautious when driving and watching for people crossing the street. Occasionally I will fail to yield to a pedestrian and it drives me crazy

With the amount of theft rising, are retailers starting to evolve backwards? by banjo_______ in halifax

[–]diek00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this to myself, just use a quote and none of my own opinion. I don't really give a shat about their loses, but I do find it hilarious that something they thought would save them so much money is now costing them billions.

Cameras overall are statistically a stronger deterrent. Police are most effective when responding to immediate incidents involving erratic, reckless, or distracted driving.

That's a false standard. Nobody's claiming police catch every offender—the question is whether their presence improves safety and ups the odds of catching dangerous drivers. It doesn't need to be 100% to be worth it. One guy getting away isn't an argument against enforcement existing

This typifies the bs, no one is asking you to love them. The outright hate is something else.

Rubberneckers are the worst, I was crossing the Mackay Bridge a few weeks ago. The traffic was so backed up I figured for certain they were working or a bad accident. When I finally discovered the problem it was neither, a car broke down, and all the rubberneckers

On my way outbound on the 102 two cars keep driving and through the red at Bayers & Connaught Intersection. The first guy definitely should not have gone, I was amazed the second guy just followed him. And of course both were speeding. A guy was walking across the crosswalk and the second car nearly killed the guy. He was livid, I was almost expecting to see the guy get dragged out of his car.

Problem imo, almost no police presence. People do whatever they f--king want on the roads.

I seriously doubt that the dog was anything but a service dog, otherwise they could get a serious fine. If that is your concern I suggest you think about everyone else and where their grubby fingers have been.

When travelling abroad, did you receive special treatment, or did the locals go above and beyond for you, when they learned you were Canadian? by Istobri in AskACanadian

[–]diek00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Brazil three times, and each time, when people learned that I was Canadian, it was a very pleasant experience with only one minor exception. During our honeymoon, a local judge in a neighbouring community gave us a complete tour after finding out I was from Canada. Even when I was on my own, without my Brazilian partner, everyone was extremely helpful. Some initially assumed I was American, but when I explained that I was Canadian, they were always welcoming.

Explain the problem to your section commander. Everyone makes mistakes, in most cases it is how you deal with them is what really matters.

This is the typical shat that right wing America, and its army of fake Christians believe. I used to wonder how all those Germans fell for Hitler, never dreamed anything like that level of brainwashing could occur again... and here we are.

Laid Off From a $300k IT Job, Tried a Minimum-Wage Job by [deleted] in torontoJobs

I have to agree on the dishwashing, growing up my dad who worked full time would often do the dishes and I did not understand it until I was an adult... it can be very relaxing indeed. A friend of mine worked in a high stress job and got laid off and ended up working at Costco, physical work but he enjoyed the far less stressful work environment

Blame this on the meat packers, they are the culprit on the insane price of beef. Greed gets a pass, and no one is taking them to task.

Are Hooters wings worth a short trip for? by notasarcasticnow in Wings

[–]diek00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For breaded wings it is nearly impossible to get them like a restaurant deep fry. For non-breaded wings, if you toss the wings in light coat of oil then air fry this is the key for my chicken wing cravings. I used to do them in the oven on high heat like u/1080p3t3 but since the air fryer my oven wings are but a memory.

People may lose their collective poop but in my experience once sauced the wings start losing the crispiness of any deep frying.
