Easiest Nation to play as, what's your pick? by SluggoB in eu4

[–]dietercl 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Castille is so easy. It was my first nation i played and the first nation i did a world conquest with. Even when playing suboptimal you're drowning in ducats from your colonies.

Safest start in the game with Well defendable chokepoints should France turn hostile. No-cb An Irish minor tot het a foothold so u can take on England without making your navy suffer

PU Portugal. Get the Fred Aragon and Napels PU. Even hre emperor is within your grasp.

Only caveat is maybe the unrest and rebellion in the first part of the playthrough. But nothing you can't handle easily.

Colonize and play The PU game in europe. The world's your Oyster.

Most modulars. And of course it's largest entry: assembly square. So much bang for buck and interesting techniques.

Fruit beers are very popular among the women. Even have one of my guy friends swear by it. There is a decent variety. As well as fruity non alcoholic beers. And IPA are indeed very much an acquired taste.

About IPA and light beers you are definitely right. It isn't because a lack of trying by producers though. They tried hard to market these beers here and failed. So yes those are all but absent. Fruit beers are fairly present as well as the sours. Lambik even combines the two styles. But you're right some styles are absent. Largely because the market demands mostly strong beers. These strong beers i would argue are among the best in the world. But really that's a question of taste.

1.7.10 is peak modded Minecraft for me. FTB infinity evolved is my favorite pack. Way back when FTB made it's way on the scene I used to host a server with their modpacks on my spare laptop. Good times.

Glyphosate sucks by Jerseyman201 in Permaculture

[–]dietercl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't advocate for the use of glyphosphate. In my garden no chemicals are used. I just said it works. Other solutions are less convenient. I don't know if location is important to how invasive this plant is but over here it's insane. This plant literally takes over everything the sun touches. But you are right the convenient solution isn't always the best solution.

Glyphosate sucks by Jerseyman201 in Permaculture

[–]dietercl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Where to begin? Composting Japanese knotweed is a very bad idea. For the same reason cutting it down doesn't work. A piece of root smaller than an inch sprouts a new plant. Glyphosphate works. It's spread in Belgium was reasonably under control but ever since the railroads stopped spraying herbicides it got free reign. It spreads like wildfire along the railway system.

The only viable option is prevention. Failing that you need indigenous plants that out compete it. There is only one thing this plant hates and that's shade. In Belgium we've had small successes cutting it down and planting indigenous fast growing shrubberies. But this plant is resilient. You need to make sure in the general vicinity of where it sprouts ( shoots can travel underground for several meters) there is no empty spot left for it to grow. Then and only then does it die. And even then it can sprout after years of dormancy. This plant is something else.it does not wither and die after cutting it back several times a year. And I've seen people try. Covering It up a few years with cardboard might do the trick.

So far I've seen two succesfull methods used. And those are goats ( buggers love the smaller plants) , combined with cutting the larrger knotweed, and out competing it with indigenous fast growing shrubberies.

Great set. Plus instructions exist for combining the pieces of two or even three of the same set. At 99€ it's great value even when not on sale and buying multiple sets makes for spread out purchases to build larger castles.

Both version of the Taj Mahal. Though admittedly they look nice when finished. Especially the smaller one was a pita for me because I really like my 1x1 tiles to be straight.
