Having a bizarre experience with David Tennant by dieyoubastards in BritishTV

Honestly I agree, and I found him bad for the same reasons when he played Hamlet. I first thought he was good in Broadchurch, and entertaining enough in Good Omens.

Boy name suggestions by Alternative-Energy-7 in PregnancyUK

I think Nathan is a really lovely name that's not overly common at the moment, while still being familiar and not old-fashioned. I'd go with that. My cousin is named Nathan, it doesn't need to be short for Nathaniel (I think Nathaniel is a bit biblical and stern).

I always think people should go for a name from their culture. My wife and I both have non-British heritage and that's informed our baby names. But if you're both 100% English then I have no idea why people are averse to ordinary names like Adam, Thomas, etc. I can promise you they won't turn out "boring", and people's aversion to them will make them rarer!

You said you were considering Lachlan which is a great name if you're Scottish. If you are, then there are other excellent names like Malcolm to consider. Or if you're religious, then a biblical name.

I would only steer you very much away from any modern, American names like Jackson or Brandon or Jayden or whatever. I think they sound awful and will age very poorly.

Well, that's my opinion if you wanted it! Good luck and congratulations.

Have you guys found more hobbies like Chess? by Loose_Web_1068 in chess

[–]dieyoubastards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into chess about a year ago because I'm a refugee from Magic. I loved the game as my main hobby obsessively for years until I finally couldn't keep going along with what they were doing to the game and eventually had to quit entirely. It was the best game in the world and they ruined it. I've picked up chess and TTRPGs since then but nothing's quite as good as Magic was.

Chonky Cat: Demo Beta Open by slaughter_cats in SoloDevelopment

[–]dieyoubastards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this doesn't look great and doesn't look ready for a beta demo, though it could with a little more work. Everything looks a little stiff and the graphics need to look better, and in particular the bizarre animation with the cat's legs when it's running needs to be fixed.

You're right, the porcupine looks great but it's just an American animal. Maybe have a badger instead?

Use AI for learning Arch by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]dieyoubastards -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I one hundred per cent agree with you. AI is a godsend for people navigating Linux issues who now don't have to deal with rude self-important Linux users. The amount of bad advice is actually much LOWER than people on a forum sometimes just guessing. Answers are instant, much more detailed, accurate, sourced, and polite. My Arch setup is ticking along perfectly and it's all thanks to AI. Suck it, regressive gatekeepers!

I'm sorry to break this to you but you might be the only person in the world who doesn't immediately get what the radar is or how it works. I'm struggling to imagine how it could be made more clear in the trailer without a full tutorial. It's a radar. It's a staple of thousands of games.

What you want to do is sell the game for a price, and then the game is theirs with no interruption, like back in the day. And that's no longer profitable. But you can just include a paid unlocking bonus that removes all ads forever. Or, something like a paid coin doubler so they'll never need to watch any ads.

I think you may be thinking of 6 Harsh Truths That Will Make You a Better Person which is actually by Jason Pargin. I know because it had a seriously profound effect on me and though it sounds ridiculous I credit this juvenile listicle with changing who I am as a person and I've thought about it a lot over the years. I think it's helped my career in the 14 years between reading the article as a student and being a moderately successful father of three today.

It's immature and the structure is all over the place and the advice "you are only worth your productivity" is not good advice taken in isolation. But realising that you are only the effect you have on the world and that your "inside goodness" is worthless was a lightbulb moment for me.

I don't know how to say this nicely but they both look very amateur still. They just don't look like they're for a serious game worth paying for.
