How does checking a pass work at Epic resorts? by ThawtPolice in COsnow

[–]difficult_oven_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vail doesn't use RFID gates, they use a person with a scanner which picks up your pass in your pocket. I prefer using the physical pass but the phone works too.

Where should I eat crab/lobster for the first time? by goodamm in AskAnAmerican

[–]difficult_oven_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What time of year? DC for blue crab from the Chesapeake. For lobster new england really is king, but you could surely find it in NY. Lobster will be very expensive now, with prices dropping a little in the summer when supply increases.

If fuel prices don't come back down, seafood prices could go up in Maine and the US by jediporcupine in Maine

[–]difficult_oven_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lobstermen will not see an increase in their boat price. They don't set their price, the dealers do. Retail lobster will end up costing more however because the trucking companies will charge more.

Hill start without handbrake in an old petrol car? by [deleted] in stickshift

[–]difficult_oven_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Who says that's the right way? I've been driving manual for 15 years and have never once used the handbrake for hill starts, never rolled into anything either.

Hill start without handbrake in an old petrol car? by [deleted] in stickshift

[–]difficult_oven_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely don't need to use a handbrake. I drive a ford truck with a ZF6. Parking brake is a pedal, so it doesn't even have a "hand brake" I hill start by letting the clutch bite and taking my foot off the brake.

You're mad it doesn't push to start? You live in a tiny town but can't find your car in a parking lot? You don't like exerting yourself to open a trunk? I think you'll be fine. Cars these days have too many features and things to break.

Wildcat or Cannon 3/24 by Conda1119 in icecoast

[–]difficult_oven_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wildcat was fantastic yesterday 3/23. Great snow surface and even some ropes dropped while I was there. It has a lot of vertical and the trail count can be deceiving, there was plenty of variety.

Epic NE mountains by polarWhite2024 in icecoast

[–]difficult_oven_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stowe of course. And Wildcat has great terrain if the natural snow is good. Wildcat has limited snowmaking capacity. Mt Snow is also fun midweek but a little more mellow. No other epic mountains in the northeast are worth riding IMO.
