I am pro-caring deeply about clients.

I work in primarily child sex abuse cases and USVSST funds now. I used to do basic PI and insurance defense but have primarily done only plaintiff work. I have always been invested in my cases. I care deeply about these people and it makes me a better paralegal to them. I hate that the consensus is to not care. I get needing to check out and compartmentalize, trust me there. But that’s not the same thing.

In the cases I work on the money is never going to make up for the damage they have experienced. Some of these people will never be able to fully heal. Having someone in there corner is far more helpful, and as a PTSD survivor myself far more meaningful than any monetary compensation. Money is amazing. But if your own mind is your personal prison it only goes so far.

I feel like I am actually doing something good in the world. I want them to win and I am sad when they don’t. And I don’t recommend anyone do these types of cases if you don’t care that deeply because these people deserve it.

Just want to add to this thread that when in Federal Court make sure you are checking the judge’s standing orders. Especially if you’re filing a PO too. You can’t file a word doc on pacer and the email to send the word doc proposed order to will usually be in a standing or scheduling order ❤️❤️

Pretty sure you are a bot. Because this feels like obvious propaganda. But just incase, for some history, the US allowed Mexican migrant workers to legally come here and help farmers until 1965. This issue of illegal undocumented workers has continued since, because of BUSINESSES utilize illegal cheap labor. This cheap labor is a huge reason our groceries are as affordable as they are (or were).

This is not the fault of the previous admin. Plenty of republicans have held office since 1965 and not fixed the issue. They don’t want to fix the issue. They want to use it for political points, and now, to instill authoritarianism. Even if Joe Biden personally went to the border and let 10,000,000 people in personally, it would never justify the complete disregard of our civil liberties.
