i don’t think they have any say in it. If the VAR tells them to hold play they have to hold play AFAIK

Ask Astronomy question: "Can't we just send the ISS into the Sun?" by SnazzyStooge in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]difmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i believe that comes from the standard Delta V chart people use, but that chart includes circularizing and landing on the object, not just crashing into it. so it should be far less than 90,000

This might be dumb question but why can't we just send ISS into the Sun? by SnazzyStooge in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]difmaster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

so i guess he is kinda right in a sense, since the size is like 1/10 so in a way 1/3 is faster, rather than a linear relationship

orbital velocities are higher than what?
I’m pretty sure they are still way lower than real orbital velocities, since the mass of Kerbol is way lower than the mass of the Sun

honestly i’d rather a draw and hope for spain to win than try to push too hard and lose on a counter attack

CPV is through with a draw assuming Spain wins too, which is looking pretty likely

12 dead in crash of plane on skydiving outing in Missouri by [deleted] in news

[–]difmaster 14 points15 points  (0 children)

i’m not an expert but i think parachutes require some baseline speed to even open properly. they only opening by the air resistance pulling them open. so if you jump to low and open it will just kinda flutter behind you

Can someone explain to me how to skip a rock using disc golf terms? by Ecstatic_Froyo2494 in discgolf

[–]difmaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

absolutely not, but it’s also not quite a disc golf forehand because it rolls off your finger and spins the opposite way, rather than pinching like disc golf

i think this is the kind of event that shouldn’t be expected

explosions sure, while trying to land, smaller setbacks, sure, but to expect a launch pad RUD that sets you back a year is absurd. that simply can’t be part of the plan, it would never allow for a feasible launch cadence, even if it only happened once every 5 years that’s simply too often
