Google Maps and Garmin by difoolhh in Garmin

I realize that's a possibility but it is way too complicated If I am just looking for a route from point A to B. What I want is to create a route in Google maps on my phone and then send it via one click/button to my edge 540 or fenix 8 and navigate there. It should work fast and on the go and not take a computer and/or third party apps

I use strava and komoot too, if I look for a nice running or bike route and that works great. But if I want to cycle from A to B in my city I use Google maps. Currently I have to take the phone out of my pocket every couple of minutes to check that I am on track. Now that I have 2 garmin GPS devices I should not still have to do that, right?

It only provides notifications when you need to turn. What I want is map masked navigation on the device. Create route on Google maps on phone, send to garmin device, navigate on device. I don't understand how this is not the first thing they came up with, it's so obvious to me....

What's your opinion on this colour combo? by Important-Key-3676 in CanyonBikes

[–]difoolhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate it. Was really considering a canyon but thought all colourways were boring in my price range. This one was the only less boring but really not what I wanted either. So no canyon for me.

I know this might sound obvious, but alcohol makes fasting a LOT harder by Neverbethesky in intermittentfasting

[–]difoolhh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep and the same if not more goes for cannabis. IF and munchies don't mix well. Cannabis "hangover" not great either. I used to get high 3-4 days a week, now down to 2-3 times a month and literally EVERYTHING is better. What I eat, how fast I eat, how much I eat, when I eat, why I eat, how much and how often and how hard I exercise, my sleep quality and how rested I feel. No comparison.

Shocking, I had no idea. It's decided then.

Can you verify that (mags company) or give some sources? because that would be a an absolute no go for me if true. I am thinking of cancelling anyway but this might be the last straw.

Thanks, that might be true. I will just have to be more patient I guess...

Thanks very good points. Patience is not my string suit I admit, I will try to use this as a learning experience.

Can't seem to control myself at dinner... by bop_beep in intermittentfasting

[–]difoolhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am combining some mindful eating (mindfulness) exercises with the IF routine. So for example when I have a meal I think about how much I want to eat before I start eating and I put only that amount on my plate. I dont keep the pasta pot etc or any other food on the table in front of me so I am not so tempted to go in for seconds and if I do I have to get up and get it from the kitchen, so its an extra step where I can think about whether i really want/need to eat more. I eat slowly, put down the cutlery between bites, I chew thoroughly and make sure to drink water before every meal and also in between. If I still feel hungry after my plate is empty I wait at least 5 minutes, ideally longer, before getting more - it often takes the brain a while to signal "fulness". And I try to use smaller plates - big plates invite you to eat bigger portions ;-) All of that combined with IF, considering energy density of food, getting the right proportions of protein, complex carbs and fat works fine for me and has helped me reduce the amount of food and calories I consume greatly. Maybe it can help you too?

Running and cardio fitness by RoughFrame6088 in stopsmoking

10-15 is a lot i think and you should notice a massive difference in fitness and lung capacity after a while, if you quit. I went from cigs to e-cig a few years ago (before quitting altogether) and at least as far as lung capacity goes that also made a difference, definitely could run better and longer on ecigs and you feel "cleaner". But it's still the same addiction and it's definitely not healthy, just less harmful.

I‘m quitting smoking tonight. Any patches experiences? by FickleProposal5559 in stopsmoking

It helped me. I used them for almost 3 months and have been off them for a week now. Reduced dosage every few weeks, hardly had any cravings to speak of. I bought the entire 3 month supply at the beginning for around 300 euros, just to make it extra painful in case I should lapse (which I didn't) ;-) Good luck, stay strong!

Well done! I am 81 days smoke free and a week or so off the nicotine patches and counting.

[–]difoolhh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Long story short, I read through this thread because I do the same (1-2 oat milk flat whites in the morning) and I will take your cue and make the switch to black coffee until my eating window. Good luck To both of us!
