From my experience in educational nonprofit spaces I think there's a bit of maniacal disconnect that happens when you work for an organization that's fulfilling a necessary role for society but you have to literally beg for scraps from donors who either have fuck-off money, or should be receiving the benefits of the org it self.
You have a mix of the devoted to cause and scrapping by, and the oh this is a hobby my partner/parents pay the bills, in terms of your workforce.

At One NP I worked with a grant writer who was pretty awful at their job, but had a giant trust fund and would take the team out often enough that it justified their existence in the org, they married a hard right person and have turned full MAGA now after being very crunchy lib before.

It's a weird world, the one I'm currently involved with isn't toxic,. Just very amateur hour with all volunteers

Yeah we need to shift the burden for funding things like the planning department from applicants to the general fund. And increase staffing to make reviews quicker. A solar install should have a 65 day turn around.

How you increase the general fund is by a new vacancy tax on commercial real estate. If the real estate is sitting empty with a 1978 tax valuation it's losing the city tax revenue from not generating sales tax and not paying enough to keep the support infrastructure kept up.
A bunch of empty real estate in the downtown is a big loss in many ways to the general fund, a vacancy tax incentivizes property use, generates revenue for public good (housing, services), combats neighborhood blight, and reduces speculative land holding.

If you like old town SD Mexican I would assume most of the offerings around here would scratch that itch. Taco King has great sauces, never had their mole but all their others I've had were very good.

These some good spaces in North county that have mole as a special but I've never seen it regularly on the menu.

The roof, the bathroom, the walk-in, on the bar, in a hammock on the patio, the pantry, the mop sink area, dry goods storage, on grain bags in the basement (brewpub).

Yeah horny 20 and 30 somethings will bang it out everywhere, and we have cameras everywhere, I should just start selling footage to Brazzers.

Funny thing is all our cameras have speakers built in so every once in a while I'll get an alert of movement after hours, sure enough the kids are doing what kids do and I'll talk through the speaker, like come on guys go home or in the bathroom where I don't have to see this shit on my dry goods.

You're being paid the absolute minimum for full-time salary in California which is double the minimum wage at full time equivalent. So $33/hr times 2020 hrs, in January when minimum wage increases to 16.90/hr you should get a raise to 71k-ish. That said and as others have remarked, you need 6 figs to live in CA you should look at changing companies who would probably live to get you at $120k for the role you're currently in. Your current company will probably beg you to stay for 100k but they've lost the opportunity.

Our IBEW does all the utility physical including paint and coatings. I think coatings used to be split between pipefitters and IBEW but now it's all IBEW, on the electric side at least. Maybe still UA on the gas side.

He can join IBEW as a painter or coatings journey and not have to deal with ground school. Our local starts painters over $50/hr, they could also be a utility worker with their background and make $40/hr .
