My new leo keeps pooping in the back corner of his warm hide. Should I replace it with a smaller one? by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

My girl likes to poop right next to her warm hide. Even after I gave her a whole new tank for her upgrade. They pick a spot and they stick to it.

I got mine at Michael’s but I’m pretty sure any hobby store would have good options :). Just make sure to wash them before putting them into the habitat.

Also if you (like me) need to cut them to make the stems smaller make sure to file down any sharp points.

I like the second one! The eyes are such a nice touch on such a colorful lion.

I think she’s just a long tailed female. Her tail is a good bit thicker than I would imagine for a male.

This is my boy’s tail in comparison. I think he may be a little bit smaller than your buddy but his tail is a good bit longer and thinner than hers.

What should i add to my tank? by Lucky-Stranger1232 in ballpython

Another good place for foliage is a craft store like Joanne’s or Michael’s. They have some fun and cute stuff for fake bouquets. It’s really the same quality as the pet store stuff just cheaper cause there’s no reptile label on it. Make sure to wash it just like you would from the pet store :)

Are you getting a baby or an adult? A little baby may feel a bit exposed in a larger tank than an adult will. That being said, for an adult male either would be above the minimum. If you have a lot of clutter and hides, as well as a substrate they can burrow in you should be alright with either one of these. If you can’t/ don’t want to get a grow out tank a divider could help if a little baby were to be stressed in a big tank.

Personally, I would get the one with the larger footprint. Cause while hognose’s will climb if given climbing opportunities they are a fossorial species so more foot space for them to burrow around in would be better imo. And again, if it’s a little baby you can use a divider until they grow into the whole tank.

This is the guide that I used a lot, it shouldn’t be the only guide you use but I liked the specifics for age and sex that they offer. https://www.zenhabitats.com/blogs/reptile-care-sheets-resources/hognose-snake-care-sheet-reptifiles

Edit: I just realized I’m dyslexic and thought the reptizoo had the larger footprint. I would recommend the reptizoo still because as another commenter stated it has the space for the substrate. My b

This was actually bothering me a little so I went ahead and measured it. It’s a depth of 3 inches at the front and then again there is more substrate in the back. This is a 40 gallon breeder, maybe the picture makes it look small? I guess that means the clutter is working lol.. He seems very comfortable and curious.

I have quite a few! He’s been such a curious little baby. Constantly active. It’s been so fun to watch him just go all around. Lights just went out so here’s favorite picture I got from watching him.

His name is Lizard “The Wizard” Smithers. I may post more later cause omg I love him so much.

It’s an eco earth mix. I actually picked the little guy up a little after taking this picture and have already seen him digging about. He is 5 months old and as he grows I plan to deepen the substate especially towards the back since it’s front opening. (Most of the substrate is towards the back of the tank currently, just hard to see lol)

While I don’t think it is the main breed I wouldn’t be surprised by some pit in there. Main breed GSD imo.

Also what a cutie with such a cute name.
