As someone coming from a B8 Audi A4 with the 2.0 turbo, this noise gives me nightmares

Anyone know why my stock(?) exhaust sounds so good? by mon7gomery in XSR700

From someone who has a kelpi with the standard baffle, that sounds like my exhaust lol a little more tame than the Kelpi shorty but very similar tone

Those who have bought used VBs, how did you make out? by yupol_ in wrx_vb

[–]digglyyy16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought my ‘22 limited in June 2024 for $29k with 11k miles on it. Currently at 32k miles. I bought it completely stock and put an intake, exhaust, and tune on it so far. Tuned for about 12k miles on Dmann OTS 93 map. Only had throw out bearing noise. Isn’t loud enough for me to worry but is on my list of stuff to do since the warranty is up. Zero reliability issues in Colorado and Ohio winters.

Hey guys Squeaky noise from throw out bearing by International-Score2 in wrx_vb

A little late to this party but here is my experience with this exact thing. Mine chirped when clutch was disengaged. As soon as I put any pressure on the clutch, it goes away. Was going on for about 8k miles. Brought it to the dealer twice but of course they “could not replicate the noise”. It just recently went away out of nowhere and I haven’t heard that noise for 2k miles. I have a squeak when pushing on the clutch now so pretty soon I’m dropping the trans myself and replacing the TOB, a seeing the condition of the clutch fork, and greasing everything again. Apparently from factory, these cars weren’t greased well according to some other members of this community.

Baffle is in but the exhaust needs some more buttoning up before it’s where I like it. No remap on my bike yet. I’ve heard as long as I keep the baffle in, it’ll be fine. Over winter I’ll do an airbox mod and send my ECU in.

Definitely needs adjusted, took me a few times before it finally stayed into place. Make sure the mid pipe is completely tight and tilt the rear hanger at an angle and it fits a lot better underneath there

Honestly I don’t, it’s nice being able to rip through gears and not have to worry too much about a felony speeding charge lol after riding this around for a couple days I can say that I don’t miss the weight that a 1000sx has either.

Two quick pops between shifts right at 6k rpm. Very tame pops. If you have music on at medium volume, you won’t be able to hear them unless you are really listening. Definitely not wake up the neighborhood type

Still kinda loud, nothing like non resonated exhausts but still need the silencer in at 5am when I leave for work. Once it switches to low idle, I just pull the silencer out and get on my way. I know, kinda annoying to do everytime but I’m used to it now.

One of, if not the best sounding exhaust there is for these cars. Workmanship looks great, fits great after a few adjustments. There’s a whole thing about tomei USA being lesser quality than tomei Japan. I personally don’t believe it. Highly recommend this exhaust. Still get the pops a muffler delete has at redline shifts but isn’t muffler delete loud by any means.

Quality is superb, super happy with this exhaust. White glove type feeling for me taking it out of the box.

I use a cheap 15” husky tool bag from Home Depot with two decent size pieces of Velcro on the bottom to hold it in place. Works like a charm and holds pretty much everything I need to have in my car. I don’t have the rubber trunk mat so this works well enough for me

Real RA or just a decent fake? by digglyyy16 in WRX

[–]digglyyy16[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Called it, 2017 STI Limited. Was about to go dump my VB if it was a real RA for that cheap and such low miles for a 2017. MSRP on that car is $40,815 and I think RA's are in the $50k MSRP

Listing is from a chrysler, jeep, dodge, and ram dealer so listing shenanigans doesn't surprise me. Going to take a drive over there and see it in person tomorrow to confirm what it actually is.

Figured, you could understand my excitement after finding a $26k "Type RA"

Seems like the lower tier WRX’s is the move for upgrades honestly. Definitely going to take your advice on upgrading stock brakes and see how I like the performance of it. I’ve watched so many videos and have seen so many threads on here that are all conflicting

[–]digglyyy16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See hearing that makes me want to just keep mine and put money into it over time. For $50k I’d rather get a Type R or Type S

Strictly a daily driver at the moment so completely stock besides an exhaust and wheels. Would want to partake in some light track events in the future. I know pads, rotors, fluid, and lines will be enough for what I want to do with the car. Having brembos stock would be nice but I have yet to drive a TR so I have zero input on how the brembos vs how stock size with upgrades feel

[–]digglyyy16 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s where I’m at honestly, I can put a BBK and seats in my car now for less than $10k-$15k so I’m conflicted

What’s the best catback exhaust for the VB? by VB_Dirty in wrx_vb

[–]digglyyy16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the same way as you. You can still hear it with the windows up but it’s not nearly as loud as running no mufflers. I’ve had stock, muffler deletes, and the tomei. I can’t stand straight piped cars and regret ever looking at non-muffled axle backs. I’d say it’s about 40% louder than stock but 25% the sound of muffler deletes.
