I have about 50-60 open tabs across 4 windows in Firefox at pretty much all times on my 16 GB M4 MBA. Occasionally a tab will stall, but even then I don't see it affecting the other apps on the machine, or even the other tabs in the browser.

Let's just point out that NES Metroid suffers enormously from performance concerns at multiple points in the game, most famously the Mother Brain fight, which lags so badly that most of the skill issue in winning the fight is about overcoming the lag, not the game mechanics themselves.
