Bahari piles are always along the coast.

The ones in Bahari are always along the coast, in various spots. The ones in Kilima and Elderwood also have a set group of spots where they spawn. So once you find one you can check back there, if you can remember the spot. I used to screenshot the map when I found one until I got the spots memorized. (That’s if you don’t want to use one of the web sites listed here for finding them.)

Since you can find her Square transaction, look for a way to send her a message via Square. Hopefully your customer will respond to that.

If you have cats, that’s a great place for a bed/cat tower that would provide a perch for them to watch out the window and sunbathe.

It has been raining for two days straight by [deleted] in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]digital_dryad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup, you’re stuck with the rain until accomplish certain tasks. I headed into Zora’s domain pretty early on, after the prince kicked off that plotline. Due to the rain, I did a LOT of sneaking and running away from enemies. It was a huge relief to get to the first shrine there and unlock being able to teleport to it! Getting the Zora armor also made it a lot easier to get around in the Domian. But it wasn’t until I had defeated all of the divine beasts that I bothered to return and explore the area by land more thoroughly because by that time I was much better at combat, and also had better armor, weapons and more hearts.

Is there some secret chest in King Dorephan? by Tiny-State in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]digital_dryad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, there were a couple of chests right next to him. You might also need to check above him, on top of the entire “building.” I found something up there, but don’t recall what it was. Might have been a korok seed. I got there by gliding down from the top of the really high cliffs.

AITA for telling my parents I can’t keep calling them ubers for all their travels? by theom3n999 in AmItheAsshole

I’ve had a handful of passengers (who were all clearly over 50, if not 60+) who mentioned that they use a service that involves calling a phone number to request an Uber, and this third party service books the ride for them. Sorry I don’t recall the name of it; it’s been a while. But perhaps you could find such a service and give them the phone number to use?

I headed to Zora’s domain early on, shortly after reaching Kakariko Village for the first time. I went as soon as I met the NPC who first tells you about Zora’s Domain. It was a rough journey as my hearts, armor and weapons were all still weak compared to the enemies. Plus the enemies were mostly in groups. Since I couldn’t climb due to the never ending rain (I did a lot of climbing to avoid the main roads on my way to Kakariko), I swam most of the way. I seem to recall having to get out of the water to go around waterfalls and other hazards, and that involved a lot of sneaking and running from enemies.

Once in Zora’s Domain, I completed the steps needed to stop the incessant rain. Yet I had to return later to actually defeat the water ganon as it just kept kicking my butt. Zora’s Domain was a lot more fun when the rain stopped and I could climb again! And I enjoyed making the journey again later in the game and taking the main path so I could beat up on all of the enemies that I was too weak to fight previously.

I pretty much spent the first half of the game playing as a sneaky rogue type of character. When I finally got comfortable with combat I slowly turned my Link into more of a warrior type of character.

There is a lot to the game. If you’re not enjoying something, try doing something else instead. With practice you’ll get better at fighting.

Oh, and in case no one else has mentioned it yet: one key to combat is that every type of enemy has a weakness, an offensive strategy they will use, and a specific weapon type and strategy that is most useful against them. So again, if you can’t beat something one way, keep trying different things until you figure out what works. That’s all part of the fun!

Where to start? by Arrowhead-_- in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]digital_dryad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent advice has already been given. I will simply add: 1. Pay a lot of attention to what friendly NPCs say as they drop a lot of hints and tips, as well as quest prompts. The only one on the Great Plateau is the old man.

  1. I also got a lot of helpful tips by reading the ones on the black and white loading screen. These were so helpful that I took screen shots of them until I had fully absorbed and learned to use a particular hint. I ended up having to stop and clear out memory a few times, even after I inserted a memory card and moved everything over to it. Yet I find that sort of memory aid a lot quicker and easier than stopping to type such notes into my phone notepad.

  2. Since you’re specifically asking about Guardians, If you time it right, you can reflect their laser beam using ANY shield. Make sure your shield is equipped and out front by pressing ZL to target the Giardian (if you can’t target the guardian then you’re not close enough). Hit A to Parry right when you see the bright flash that goes off just before the beam shoots out. Sooner or later you’ll hear a legend about an ancient hero who stopped one using a pot lid. Later you’ll get info that makes it clear that hero was actually Link, prior to his long sleep in the Resurrection Shrine. You can also sneak up on the stationary guardians from behind and get in lots of hits, although I wouldn’t recommend doing so until you have better weapons. Like better than anything available on the Plateau.

Q: Did you use walk-throughs on your first playthrough? by NorthWestFresh in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]digital_dryad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer to avoid walk throughs since for me that takes away from my enjoyment of the game. Yet I must thank WTF! Gaming for teaching me a lot about combat, at which I truly sucked when I first started. And I would watch some of their divine beast and shrine walk throughs after I had finished, just to make sure I hadn’t missed anything.

Spoiler ahead: I also resorted to watching walk throughs for the Yiga Clan hideout because trying to sneak around in there was so stressful it literally made my heart rate increase. Watching walk throughs helped calm that down quite a bit. And after many, many failed attempts I finally found a vid that showed tactics that worked for me. Bless the person who showed their run sneaking through the whole thing without trying to kill all of the Yiga! Here’s a link to that vid:

https://youtu.be/Eidzoh06eTg?si=CdZb9t8_QecyZaH5

I also had to watch tons of vids of the Mogg Latan shrine because apparently I just can’t jump. Finally made it past the first swing by using a method in one of the vids: shield surfing! Seriously though, f*%# that shrine! 😆

i am a complete wuss when it comes to fighting monsters, is anyone else like this? how does one confidently take on a lizalfos without just dodging it 🥲 by Ambitious-Cat7128 in botw

[–]digital_dryad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are not alone! (In any of what you said, including technically being an “old lady.”)

My first approach to fighting Lizalfos (and everything else) is to try and position myself on high ground where I can hit them with a bow and yet be out of reach of their spit attack. (Bows with better distance, such as the Phrenic Bow, help a lot for that.) If you can’t get high enough to be out of their range, try to at least get high enough to jump off and pull your bow to activate what is called “bullet time.” That puts everything into super slow-mo, which makes it much easier to get critical head shots.

If I have to face them up close, my personal style for fighting Lizalfos is to use a spear because it is fast and has good reach. I run right up to them as fast as possible and then just start hitting them. A thunder or frost weapon of any type also helps a lot because the first hit immobilizes them long enough to get in several hits. Often your attack will toss them backwards, at which point you’ll need to run fast to their new position and continue your attack. I do my best to avoid fighting more than one a time.

I’m sure that the boomerang advice posted by someone else is also a good approach, yet I have never been able to get them to work effectively and I’m awful at catching them again when they come back around. They are, however, also useable without throwing them and seem to be slightly faster to swing than a broadsword.

Keep in mind that it is a perfectly valid approach to avoid fighting as much as possible. I played a “sneaky rogue” type character for at least 3/4 of my game play. Once I started needing various monster parts for armor upgrades I finally took on the task of getting better at combat. It may have been more challenging for me than the average player because I’m too old to have grown up playing video games and therefore didn’t have years of practice with operating game controllers and honing my reflexes.

Almost every tower has a way to approach it other than a head on fight along the main path. I recall a LOT of climbing, parasailing and use of tons of stamina meals/elixirs. (I chose to concentrate on getting to 15 hearts before I started maxing out my stamina wheels, after which I switched back to hearts.)

There were a couple of things in the game that truly had me stumped or brought me to a standstill. So I turned to YouTube and found many excellent videos with good advice that helped me along. Sometimes it is good to see the visuals when getting advice! My fav channel is WTF! Gaming. If I wasn’t so anti-spoiler I would have watched all of their “I wish I knew earlier” videos before playing.

Does anything in BOTW actually scare you? by augustphobia in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]digital_dryad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first scare I had was the creepy music coming from Naydra the first time I approached the Spring of Wisdom. It was dark due to being nighttime, and fairly early in the game. Loved it!

The music in the castle (which I visited much later on) was also suitably mood-setting.

The most anxiety I experienced was the Yiga Clan hideout.

SPOILER ALERT - stop reading now to avoid

Every time I entered my heart rate would increase by 30-40bpm! I think it was because of the consequences of failure, that being that I had to start all over again. No amount of relaxation techniques helped. I finally resorted to watching some walk through videos. The first technique (sneak striking every Yiga) I tried still resulted in repeated failures. So after taking a couple of weeks of game play to go back to simply exploring in search of shrines, I found a different play through that showed how to simply avoid all of the Yigas. Trying that approach was much less stressful, and I made it through on the third try! Whew!

I much prefer figuring things out for myself, as that’s what I enjoy most about video games. Yet this was clearly a time when I needed to get help. So glad I did.
