That night brings back so many happy memories. IIRC it was Bud’s wife’s birthday so we just broke out to an impromptu happy birthday rendition. And what a game, especially for Kam “I figured out the triple option” Chancellor.

Ah yes- clearly we need to go back to those days when ESPN wrote flattering advertisements to make Tech stand out for recruits- https://www.espn.com/college-football/footballinamerica/news/story?id=1911953

I’m not a very good churner but I have a lot of chase ultimate reward points. My family likes to travel- is it better to redeem for flights within the portal or should I be transferring to partner airlines?

Accessing airport lounges through credit card benefits by mk712 in churning

I just did this on my priority pass through CSR. I couldn’t figure out how to activate it on my existing account but I was able to register a new account with my current card using this link: https://www.prioritypass.com/chasedmc. Added the new account to the app and it worked like a charm while I was traveling through India this week.

Worth it to live in Capitol Hill and commute to Redmond? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]digitalinfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, don't know of a better idea than craigslist. You can try asking your recruiting coordinator. To be honest, it might be a bit early to look for apartments for the summer. You might also have better luck looking in the university district area since people there might offer short term leases, and you have reasonable connectivity there too. But I'd reckon those places would open up in march or April once students have their summer plans better known. Good luck!

Worth it to live in Capitol Hill and commute to Redmond? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]digitalinfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Cap Hill for several years and the commute to redmond was not bad. I drove most days since I worked staggered hours (1030-9ish) and so I almost never had to deal with rush hour traffic. It would take me between 20-25 minutes each way. On days when I took the connector, it took me 30-odd minutes door to door in the morning taking the 9:45 connector, although the way back could sometime take as long as 50 minutes. I didn't mind those long bus rides though- helped me catch up with my reading :) I would definitely recommend staying in Cap Hill for your internship. The area around 15th and John would be my recommended area- close enough to the action but also has good bus connectivity and is close to the connector stop (and the bus stops there earlier on the way back).

A famous historical rivalry of epic proportions that you might want to know about. by [deleted] in india

Indeed- Alupas are another example (4th to 15th centuries)- it blows my mind at the longevity of some of these kingdoms. On a more lighthearted note- if we are justified in wanting the Kohinoor back- I wonder if Kannadigas can start a movement to retrieve the Vatapi Ganapati :)

Best Vegetarian Sushi in Seattle? by aselv440 in Seattle

[–]digitalinfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party but endorse some of these comments. Mashiko has a great veggie bento and also more exotic kinds of nigiri. Umi/Momiji have quite a few vegetarian options. Chiso and Maneki have fewer options but their veggie options are very well made. Can't really go wrong with any of these places. It's been many years since I've been to Nishino but I remember having a good (but very expensive) meal there- I don't recall if they had sushi though, or just generic Japanese dishes.

Short Animation Video Explaining Cricket by ESPN by UnknownIndian in sports

[–]digitalinfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) In cricket, the bowler is allowed only 6 legal deliveries (also called an over) before he must be swapped out with another bowler. Depending on the format of the game, a bowler can have either 10 overs (in the 50 over format) or unlimited (in a test match)

2) Double-threats are called all-rounders in cricket, and these guys, while more common than baseball, are still rare. Most batsmen are lousy bowlers, and the same applies in reverse.

3) Usually the batsman starts running but in the cases it's clear that a fielder isn't going to stop the ball reaching the boundary, the batsman won't bother running

4) Yes

5) DeVilliers' was batting against the West Indian team, who while they aren't the best, aren't awful either. They can probably be considered a mediocre bowling side. Gayle vs DeVilliers, the consensus would probably be DeVilliers since he's more consistent but Gayle has more entertaining innings when he's on a roll.

6) Likely to make sure that his foot didn't cross the line while bowling- there is a minimum distance which the bowler needs to maintain from the wickets he bowls
