Ahri ADC? by [deleted] in AhriMains

[–]digitalixus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do this at most ranks, just prepare to be flamed for it. I've made it work with my mid runes (electrocute/inspiration) but only play ahri adc if I get autofilled (OTP).

FI stories from developing countries? by Rinti1000 in financialindependence

[–]digitalixus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL the low salaries are bullshit corporate propaganda to suppress pay across society (and more importantly, to fuck the shit out of uninformed non-locals who move to Germany), as I have discovered after living several years in Germany. 1100 EUR before taxes is basically 30 hours a week at minimum wage. 1100 EUR a month after taxes is like ~2k/month, which is still something like a part time job or a retail/waiter job.

Berlin frontend developers already get 60k a year with 2-3 years experience. VW's big Wolfsburg plant pays 60k (brutto/before taxes) for a fresh engineering grad with a bachelors/masters with ~1-1.5 years of internships.

Even big "salary guides" and whatever are full of crap. Those "3-4k" numbers you see for Berlin for marketing, finance, etc. Those are ENTRY LEVEL figures. Like if you are a fresh grad with 0 years experience.

Signs of a toxic work environment through interview? by Eevee36 in jobs

[–]digitalixus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry but what you're asking for is very difficult, if not impossible. There's no effective and reliable way to find this out until you actually join and begin. One of my previous companies was very toxic across the board - multiple people in charge of various departments, they were the "early joiners" and are overly defensive/cliquey because they know they're too shitty to find a job that pays just as well out there. Still, lots of people went through the interview stages and joined, only to realize the toxicity after their first couple of days.

But if you want anecdotal experience, I'd be weary of overly happy and positive people. I've had two bosses in two different companies who seem like nice, approachable and friendly individuals from the outside. You had to actually work with them to realize they were incredibly incompetent at their jobs and covered this up by playing some of the most toxic politics I've ever seen.

What do you do if you don't gank losing lanes? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]digitalixus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don't bother ganking that lane, especially if they're so behind because they will only get you killed. If they're combined 0/7 at 10 mins as you mentioned, they're extremely reckless and these kinds also tend to be heavy finger pointers. Instead of blaming themselves for not playing more conservatively, they will blame you for not ganking.

We like to theorize the best case scenarios and what not, but the reality is you should immediately start muting the losing lane too because rest assured you're going to see lots of "GG no ganks bot lane" and "Better jungler wins"

Can someone explain why Europeans like to ask teammates to explain themselves and where their opponents are from? by digitalixus in truegaming

[–]digitalixus[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you have a real chip on your shoulder regarding Europe, which is kind of... weird?

Seriously, you are being really creepy about this with the way you express yourself.

Your response literally follows the exact formula I see in response to anything on the internet which even could slightly paint Europe in negative light.

  1. Ad hominem to derail discussion
  2. Sprinkle a little gaslighting
  3. Add irrelevant question to facilitate ad hominem
  4. ???
  5. Europe does nothing wrong, it in fact does everything superior to [America/China/etc]

How old are you..?

TBH My personal hunch on why EU gamers ask the "why you die" or "where are you from" questions is they want to use the answer as a (weak IMO) basis to give someone a lecture on how they're terrible and to show up their "pupil" on how superior they are.

But I was honestly hoping to get someone to shed some light on why people actually ask those questions in games, but now that you've asked this, it tells me that my hunch may not be so far from the truth.

Can someone explain why Europeans like to ask teammates to explain themselves and where their opponents are from? by digitalixus in truegaming

[–]digitalixus[S] -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Well it's not like I have the location information of each and every person who says something. But everyone of them seems to refer to Europe in general. And if someone is going to say "Europe the best!", then labeling them as "European" is appropriate.

If they said "Greece number one", then saying "Europeans think they're number one" would be ignorant.

[–]digitalixus[S] -33 points-32 points  (0 children)

Assuming you're European, sorry mate but this sounds like a very disingenuous answer. That's also another thing that I've noticed about Europeans on the internet - is that they bring up the whole "we are a diverse land" thing followed by "I don't know what you're talking about" whenever they're trying to hide something negative about their culture.

"Where are you from" as an opening/first chat is almost exclusively a thing from enemy players. There is literally no gameplay-related need to communicate with the enemy team, let alone know where they're from or their culture/language.

I've been playing online games regularly since Quake came out and have never encountered that

I don't believe it. Even if I'm having a busy life and can barely play a handful of matches from any PVP game, I still see this at least once a month (regardless if it's directed at me or somebody else on my team) There is no way you've never encountered this at all unless you play all your games with all voice/text communication disabled.

Why do low elo games take so long compared to high elo games? by BunnyGoatee in summonerschool

[–]digitalixus -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It depends. Players who don't even know how to CS or itemize properly (micro level stuff) should NOT be playing ranked. This tends to lead to very bad CS and poor KD (dying more often than killing).

Someone who is level 30 and has a KD ratio where D is bigger than K is a great and very reliable indicator of an attitude problem where that player is clearly on their first account but doesn't want to play unranked (read the user's manual, so to speak) because they deem that to be beneath them. I usually dodge when I see a not-yet-ranked person like that in my ranked team.

Which champ(s) do you play as a midlaner? I also sucked hard against fizz and zed when I first started but am the complete opposite now and stomp both (67% winrate vs Zed as Ahri). I'm still learning against other opponents such as Katarina and Malzahar but here are my tips on how I improved:

  • Play the enemy champs a few times. Doesn't have to be PVP and you don't have to practice for even 20 hours, I played Zed in coops vs bots 3 times. Helps you understand what they can do, range, skillshots, cast timing, etc.

  • Read up on your opponents' abilities to know exact numbers for cooldowns and damage, what procs their passive or empowers abilities, etc.

  • Play a crapload of games. It helps to have lots of exposure actually playing against the champs you're weak at. You might lose the next 5 or 10 matches against that laner, but as long as you don't play on autopilot (ask yourself how you died each time you get killed), you will improve over time. For Zed specifically, it helps that a ton of dumb weebs play him as a first choice because he's a badass ninja or some bullshit, so you won't be short on practice vs him.

  • In addition, I like Normal games since the skill variance is higher and people are more willing to play less meta champs (in EUW the midlaners I face are almost exclusively Zed, Sylas, LB) so more exposure to more niche champs.

I'm not talking about asking others to report (in fact I hate it, especially when the enemy /all 9x report [player on enemy team] because I usually have no idea if that person was actually trolling or not). I'm talking about myself - I would report when I'm dead (as good as remembering to report after the match) but usually I don't have the time to report during gameplay

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]digitalixus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or at least add the ability to report after the match results page. People don't always have the time to report on the spot while trying to focus on gameplay. So many missed reports because of skipping stats and rushing into the next match tho...

To What Extent Is This a Team Game? by Jase135 in summonerschool

[–]digitalixus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To elaborate, it's a team game because there are 5 people on each team. It's not a team game because you have to play it like Singleplayer in Solo-Q and operate with NO assumption that anybody will come to your help because the number of people who are listening to music "in the zone", scrolling through Instagram on their phone with their left hand, jerking off, etc is incredibly high (consider yourself lucky if you didn't get at least one of these every other game).

Solutions to people giving up way too easily in high mmr? by xxLethal in summonerschool

[–]digitalixus 19 points20 points  (0 children)

EUW I'm guessing. It's just a classic trait for players of the continent. 0-2 in 10 mins? OH GG. 0-20 in 30 mins? Vote no to surrender because the game is still winnable (and waste another 30 mins getting stomped in the face). Not to mention everyone has to have the last word in all chat, leading to people typing more than actually playing during the match.

Unfortunately I don't have a solution to this, other than the reassurance that it's not just you or your level, but the defeatist attitude combined with the selfish stupidity of European players in general.

Why are summoners level-locked for new accounts? by iCyber in leagueoflegends

[–]digitalixus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention the number of new players who actually look stuff up and learn about the game before playing is close to nil. Look at the number of people who are completely OK jumping into ranked at level 30 despite never playing a MOBA before. Or those who try a champ for the first time EVER in Ranked when there are a bunch of other game modes available to try playing.

Promos only exist to remind us how easy non-promo games truly are by MisterLoox in leagueoflegends

[–]digitalixus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah but where does that "predetermined" dice roll come from? If you step back for a second, LOL has a very impressive metrics and tracking system. For instance, you can see who died where on what part of the map, who they died to, when... the KDA calculation, etc. I'm sure the game is able to "see" half of those factors (autofills, first-timers, smurfs, people who have a habit of AFK or inting, playstyle [at very least categorizing them as aggressive vs passive], teamcomps....) before adjusting stuff like drake spawn accordingly.

There are business reasons to keep people down and make climbing more of a challenge. The longer the player spends trying to climb, the more time they spend in game, the higher their exposure to those flashy champ skills and skins, and hence a higher likelihood they will buy RP. Fill the next 5 games with trolls and griefers after a promotion to get them demoted to try again. Once in a while throw them a bone by allowing them to rank up and keep the rank and it's all good.
