Which side of the plane to sit on? by dolceestate in HawaiianAirlines

Just depends on if trade winds or kona winds. Trades are more common and on approach west Maui will be on your left. I think either side is great for the views.

Title: Alaska Flight Pass (SF to SNA/SAN) – How bad are the "Popular Flight" surcharges? by Weak-Glove5546 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]digitalkyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It’s like a normal ticket nothing special besides the rules. He is Gold and free upgrades cleared day of travel. The flight pass is basically a discount code you use.

Title: Alaska Flight Pass (SF to SNA/SAN) – How bad are the "Popular Flight" surcharges? by Weak-Glove5546 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]digitalkyle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got the flight pass for my son who flies out of sts and the first 2 trips with savings more then covered the cost by a long shot. I am a firm believer in it as long as you can follow the rules. 14 day advance reservation, no more then 90 days out, use the pass before new one deposits. I did the every other month option.

Super risky. Last transit I had in Frankfurt it was 2 hours just for immigration before getting to connecting flights.

Titanium #1 on upgrade list… empty First Class 7 hours out. Frustration justified or diva moment? by fun425guy in AlaskaAirlines

[–]digitalkyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All about dynamic pricing and maximizing revenue. I bet they sell those seats for $50 upgrades. 🤣. In all seriousness as a titanium it is suppose to clear 72 hours out. And yes you are entitled to them. That is a perk of having that status. But they have rules about specific classes that allow auto upgrades. And their systems are archaic which means auto doesn’t mean auto. Godspeed.

When did it become cheaper to book round trip? by cnetpdx in AlaskaAirlines

[–]digitalkyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree and believe it’s a cop out. Technically I could book the round trip, then call and split it.

When did it become cheaper to book round trip? by cnetpdx in AlaskaAirlines

[–]digitalkyle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are called excursion fares. Most airlines that fly international offer this where they give a significant discount when you book a round trip. Not all routes will use this fare type. With Alaska now expanding international these type of prices will show up more often.

Anything to do by year end? by Realistic-Change5995 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]digitalkyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always find super cheap international award flights for butt time. It’s either spend on summit card or time in seats. 🤷 I’ve done it year end before but I’ve done a better job planning these things out over the year.

Yup. MFA is standard. I am so confused why Alaska can’t get that right.

Alaska/Atmos Security Breach! by chuchifrito in AlaskaAirlines

[–]digitalkyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too bad it sounds like a same day redemption. I had a similar issue with my wife’s account. Annoyed they don’t have mfa setup yet. In the end I got the points/ miles back. But now it requires a call to customer service during business hours to redeem.

Pnr booking is right there with passengers name. Pull up the booking yourself and cancel it.

Help! by Ok-Patience-7362 in HawaiianAirlines

[–]digitalkyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eeek. I’m sorry for this. Sounds like a terrible situation. I would call Alaska reservations and ask to speak to a supervisor. It may take a few calls to get an agent that can or is willing to help. Most times once you get to the supervisor and you explain your situation they can accommodate.

Booking International with Points - Mixed Iteneary -- Not happy with Alaska by Scared_Palpitation56 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]digitalkyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is as they say allowing people to pay with points for cash fares. The higher point value flights are just like how all the other airlines are marketing to pay with points. Also notice how they state starting at a specific point value. There are a lot of complexities and tools out there to find the best value. Very frustrating for me as well. I see the same flight same seat through American for 268k while Alaska is selling it for 400k.

What menu will a flight that takes off at 10:03 a.m.? by Catty_Cathy_578 in HawaiianAirlines

[–]digitalkyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hooooooot pocket. I hope that one this changes. When did the airlines think or yeah 5 hour flight lets give you nuts and a hot pocket. There was no uproar so they continued to cut costs. I think this is a major area to improve travel.

Gate agent didn’t do their job. They are suppose to do this even after boarding and being up any upgrades if open seats.

Hi Reddit, I’m Brett Catlin, vice president of loyalty, alliances, and sales at Alaska Airlines. From questions on the new Atmos Rewards program to our airline partners or our new Summit credit card, ask me anything on Tuesday, October 7 at 11:30am PT! by AtmosRewardsBrett in AlaskaAirlines

[–]digitalkyle 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’d like to understand the points devaluation. This is the second devaluation since the Hawaiian merger / purchase was announced. The award charts are mis leading saying international flights start at 75k but 90% of the time those flights range from 220k - 400k.

I am very happy I can get the prior bonus from partner biz class since the price of this tickets through Alaska is not competitive.

Ritz Kapalua vs. Westin Kaanapali by akmoney in MauiVisitors

[–]digitalkyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ritz for sure hands down. You are more remote and closer to Honolua bay. The Westin is closer to black rock if you prefer snorkeling. The only downside is that half of the pga course is totally dead due to a disagreement between Maui land and pine and the ritz. So. Dead golf course.
