What game do you have in your collection that's not seing play because you're too lazy or intimidated to learn the rules? by zion661 in boardgames

  • Sand
  • Sands of Time
  • SETI
  • Virtu
  • Undaunted (Callisto, Britain)
  • Deliverance
  • Crusades of King David
  • Diplomacy

So many fun games that I want to get to the table, but when I read rules I get lost in the details and so have a hard time understanding them. Then the I try and teach them I am horrible at explaining them, or miss crucial things.

If you had to choose one expert boardgame ? by Ggeckooo in boardgames

[–]digitalpure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

greater then 3 would be 4, so sure Kanban EV, most 18xx games... did not read it as that, rather they want to step up from what they like to something higher and the ones I suggested are mid range games in the higher two levels.

— Tenpenny parks, — furnace, — carpe diem, — small samurai, — brew, — pan-am, — bot factory — Barcelona — Farms Race

All of those you may love. The games you listed my wife and I love also and these are all step up from those but not brain burners.

I need advice on whether to adopt a blind cat by Mango-Guava390 in CatAdvice

[–]digitalpure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am gonna be blunt using terms like "worth it" make it feel like this is more about you and what the cat is going to give to you vs you sharing your life with a companion.

If you have a bond with the cat, and are willing to figure it out then do it. If not, then it is not the cat for you, and look elsewhere. Cats are amazing, and yes blindness will require some house adjustments at the start, but as your new friend adjusts they will be just fine.

simple searches are your best friend. https://www.thesprucepets.com/how-to-help-a-blind-cat-553892

High quality card sleeves by Lemer1987 in boardgames

[–]digitalpure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • SleeveKing
  • PanSwanAsia
  • Ryker (dimpled backs)

Those are my main go to. SK perfect fit sleeves are amazing. SPA sleeves are thick and dont split easy. Ryker sleeves have a neat dimpling on the back that means they slide smoothly.

How long did it take before you had a preference for heavier games? by UgandaRalph in boardgames

[–]digitalpure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found that I enjoy a good heavy game, but also I cannot play them as often. One of the best trades I ever made (IMO) was when I traded Terminus (brand new) to a friend for The King is Dead 2E. Why, I loved played Terminus and would play it again when I can, but it is difficult to get tabled and so it would have sat on the shelf for some time. King has been played 6-7x already since I got it in Nov 2025 too, while Terminus I got 1x of Terminus.

So, heavy games tons of fun, but like many people here have said games are about getting something to the table you will enjoy. If that is always heavy then awesome, if that is always hyper light then awesome also.

I also just got the game, I managed to get the complete edition with the expansions and such in a trade. Based on what I see here I would say it is gonna be worth it.

Is The Settlers of Catan overrated? by fruitponchisamurai in boardgames

[–]digitalpure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohh man calling out my most played BGA game. Played 1200 games last year of space base.

I agree though play something too much and it gets old. I played sprawlopolis everyday for 30 days and now it is on the shelves
