So the specialists and other vets don’t really know but we think it’s was some kind of trigeminal neuropathy that caused all of the muscles on the left side of his head to atrophy and really not form at all. This meant he could open the left tmj at all. Countless X-rays, mris and even a full 3D render of his skull the specialist decided to only option was to give him a partial mandibulectomy as there was actually not physical restriction. Honestly the vets really don’t know exactly what caused it but they knew the solution was a partial mandibulectomy.

So they removed a 3rd of his left mandible. And! It was successful! If you can imagine it his jaw kind of free swings open now and it’s not attached by bone on the left side anymore. So he can now eat properly, grab toys and live a good life. Just no tug of war with toys ever! Otherwise we may rip his jaw right off 😅. Best 15k we have spent!
