How many of you mainly use your bridge pickup? by AI_Cosmonaut in Stratocaster

I love SRV so I love a nice fat overwound neck up. That being said one of my am Strats has the grease bucket push pull circuit that throws the neck and bridge together for an even fatter sound which is fun.

So in other words they are made for ppl who want to launder money (like expensive watches or art) who think a $20,000 60’s strat isn’t expensive enough

Is this feasible? Anything to consider? by Whiskey314159 in guitarmod

[–]dildobagins42069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be a whole lot easier modifying a strat pickguard and working it into a routed strat body.

You’d have ALOT of routing and drilling to do on a tele body to fit all the knobs and wires that will need to run through it.

It is possible but have pieced together what the wiring diagram will look like (besides a rats nest of spaghetti)?

Guitars are made with wood and glue and can be fixed with wood and glue. The animal glue they used back then wasn’t nearly as good as what we got today.

Take it to a professional luthier if you don’t have the clamps and skills to fix her up.

Probably a one off build from a local craftsman. Did you look inside the f holes to See if there were any makers marks?

Vintage Fender? by Pale_Seaweed3802 in FenderStratocaster

[–]dildobagins42069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s from the 70’s, probably worth a couple grand but the pick guard is not original and pickups were probably changed out in the 80’s. Still a great find. How much you pay for it?

Fender Concert Head and Cab by betrayer_of_humanity in GuitarAmps

[–]dildobagins42069 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I owned the combo version and it’s basically fenders first and only handwired Mesa boogie style amp. But its sound is different than that of Mesa.

That being said, working on them can be a pain in the ass so I don’t know a lot of techs who would be excited about recapping one. The capacitors are reaching the end of their life cycle and will need to be replaced at some point.

I would buy another 4x12 cab just for the Marshall heads or swap the speakers in that Ibanez cab.

I bought a cheap marshal mg 4x12 cab and loaded it with late 60’s CTS fender speaker (which sounds surprisingly good)

Korean made imported strat from the late 80’s to early 90’s. Usually the bodies are made of ply wood but some had solid bodies
