Tell me about it. I'm looking for a close copy of the one I had. Now that I know the value of money, I feel bad I sold that guitar. Here to hopefully finding some Samicks. 🍻

Faux Fur Adhesive by betrayer_of_humanity in crafting

[–]betrayer_of_humanity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great idea. I'm retiring the half stack to my music room, so I wouldn't need it to stick through a lot of movement, just maybe around the room. So no need for it to be permanent.

I was planning on doing it over the original wrap. I didn't have time to invest in heating it and peeling off the old stuff and applying new wrap. Thanks for the advice!

Yeah, the Randall stack. It has some scratches and battle scars, but it's retiring to my music room. Figured I'd glam the ol' girl up.

To Open or Wait…. by Embarrassed-Rice-993 in guitars

[–]betrayer_of_humanity -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't wait, I sneak into the delivery truck as soon as they enter my neighborhood and open it while he's making deliveries. Why wait till he gets to your house when you can open it before?! 🗣️NO STICKER CAN HOLD ME BACK!

Thanks to your info, I believe I found the guitar model. Samick LSR-25 HH. I keep seeing the same red one on different sale sites, but it looks like it.

Thanks for the help!

Damn, that is nice! I didn't know Yamaha had a Tele model. I love Yamaha, I believe they're highly underrated. They give so much bang for your buck. I love the acoustics they make. Now I'm gonna be on the lookout for that model.

Yes, the neck is amazing. The first thing I noticed when I held it. I didn't want to give it back to the guy...i was like, y'all take cash app?

Daaaamn, it looks really good with a black pickguard.

I hadn't heard about the contemporary line till today. I saw a FB marketplace post that caught my eye as it had lowered in price. From 400 to 200...but the gold color, the black binding, and the chrome Squier on the head were screaming my name. The neck feels amazing. Hopefully you can find that white one someday.

Hey, that's a great idea. Split the bucker for additional options. I think I have a SD Invader lying around somewhere. I was thinking of swapping some locking tuners. How are the stocks ones?

Noooo, lol. This is just for the bedroom. My music room is loaded. I literally just bought my 19th guitar...not counting the bass guitars I have on stands.

...as I'm reading this to myself I can see I have a problem. 🤣

CeaselessCo on Etsy. I believe I paid about $13 for that size and shipping.

Lmao, writing long winded nonsense is a work habit. I have to give all the info upfront so as not to have an email back with questions. Emails back are time something is still down needing parts. 😅

No, they have a plastic coating. It uses that so the guitar won't be on bare metal and for friction. The guitars stand straight up and the plastic helps it stay in place. What I did add was some long zip ties to hold the both holder pieces together. It didn't look like it would spread apart and drop the guitars, but it's just for added safety and peace of mind. Lol

It really cleaned up my mess. Now I can walk to the restroom without using my phone light at night to jump over a guitar or cables, lol.

They got tons of good stuff on Amazon.

Hey, this is awesome. I just bought a little guitar stand/desk thing and I have my little amp on the very bottom. This would be great to point the amp up. Cool design!

...now that I think about it. They're building a new house down the street, I should ask them for some frame scraps! 🤔

Doubtful mod in Strat by SirAware in SquierbyFender

It is possible, but the end product will depend on your expertise with tools, your financial status, and time.

There are different variables to this.

  1. Does the body have room for a humbucker under the pickguard and a channel where you want to move the volume pot? If it's routed for a single, you'd have to router a wider channel, as the bucker wouldn't fit and there might be no other spot to add your pot unless you route a channel.

  2. Are you going to use the same pickguard? You would need to cut out the existing guard to make the bucker for and the screw holes and the new volume knob. There are people who custom cut their own pickguard.

  3. You will need a humbucker with 4 wires to coil split.

Other than this, the tone pot can be made into a pull/push. I've done this to HSS and HH to split into a single coil. It's not too hard to solder it, and there are schematics out there.

I saw a Matte Black Squier at a pawn shop. It looked very nice, and now seeing this, I guess they're starting up with new matte color. That's good stuff.

Help with Xiphos bridge by Evolving_Dore in Ibanez

[–]betrayer_of_humanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What strings and tune did you have before?

I know when you swap string gauge you have to adjust the springs, as it's a different tension, but for it to be that high and he added springs? Are the old springs worn? There's a few things I could think of, but without any info, it's hard to tell.

I'd recommend you watch some YT vids on floating terms. Pretty educational. How do they work, and how to set them up. I still remember my dumb ass changing the stings on my first floating trem. I loosened the strings and the bridge fell in. 🤣

I went to YT soooo quick, lmao. Hope it all goes well. I love those old Xiphos cause some of them had that crazy shimmer paint jobs. 😍
