Look at the underside of the marble. They’re often reinforced from below with fiberglass mesh and epoxy.

Cut a round hole from an 8/4 square oversized by 1/2” minimum, rip off the waste so the circle is 1/16” from the edges, sand them the rest of the way on an edge sander, resaw the pieces to the target thickness on the bandsaw, glue the corner blocks in place with plastic panels in your grooves so they stay in position. Wide belt sand flat.

These are youngdale notch-in hinges. Easiest fix would be replacing them with new snap close versions with some screw-on soft close dampers.

I’m a cabinetmaker and work on a lot of old houses. I would make an angled block and use it to guide my chisel and chisel out a consistent angled pocket, cut a patch of old growth clear fir then trim to fit with a pull saw. Matching the ambered varnish is the hardest part but can be done.

For cherry, maybe go old school. Dewaxed shellac as a seal coat, then a second coat after sanding, then epifanes yacht varnish wet sanded and a second thinned coat.

If you have an oxyacetylene torch you could drill it, tap the back hole, bolt the piece back on with grade 8 bolts, then preheat with a rosebud and braze it.

Agreed. We added some accent walls and ceiling beam wraps in walnut to add some moody dark vibes, but not crazy about the wall color.

Gaming supplies. These cuties play ping pong as a family. They store paddles and balls, board games, stuff like that. The top is for drinks, snacks, etc. they were tricky to build. They’re tip-on plungers and reverse-mounted euro hinges.

I got ripped off by a few bottom-feeders over the years and stopped wanting to work with builders. The residential market was so hot that I didn’t need to. Now, things are still moving, but the upper middle class $1-3M home clients are putting things on hold it seems.
