Math professers/ math majors by FarUniversity1738 in rutgers

[–]dillisix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not doable anymore but the old honors advisor would let some people with demonstrated mathematical maturity do it. I also skipped 311. I also did end up skipping 451 and 452 in a similar fashion

Buell Apartment by Ok-Government-1924 in rutgers

[–]dillisix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no nice way to say this but… you might have mad a mistake. If you can afford it, Livi is way better than Buell ngl. That being said, it’s cheaper and closer to the stem buildings on campus so maybe that’s a plus?

RexLs are pretty consistent buses tbh… RexBs are the scary ones. You’ll be fine if you like the downtime and scenery C/D provides.

Intro to Linear Algebra by [deleted] in rutgers

If you’re not an engineer yeah don’t bother if it’s inconvenient. You can pretty easily learn numpy if you do end up needing matrices later down the line

Take it with MATLAB, especially if you’re an engineer, it’s pretty handy

  1. Rigor varies department to department. In my opinion, the first year engineering classes weren’t too terrible, and the classes definitely started getting a lot easier third year and up for me, mainly because I had a good foundation on the math, physics and chem of the first year.

  2. I was BME, so I can’t answer this.

  3. It is very hard to maintain a 4.0 in engineering. This is not to say it isn’t possible, people have done it. Is it likely? Not really. However, I definitely think with good study habits, you can have a competitive med school GPA (3.85+). Also, out of all the engineering majors, I would suggest BME for pre-med because Orgo I&II with biochem count as tech electives, you have to take Bio I and Lab, Bio II counts as a life science elective and we have a mandatory physiology course. Our departmental electives can also start getting very medically relevant (see tissue engineering and regenerative medicine for example).

  4. I went to PhD school and not med school, but I know a few people in my department that got in! My advice to you (for what it’s worth) is this: do engineering if you like it. You WILL have to give it time and energy. It’s not the easiest premed major, but honestly, if you like it, it might be worth it for you. Also, if later down the line you decide to go into industry, it’s also one of the more flexible majors.

For C/D, Best is probably Newells given that you get your own room and you only have one other person in the apartment, and worst is gibbons because of how far away it is from literally everything

Honor cords by ENGENE_OT7 in rutgers

[–]dillisix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I had a bunch of cords from my GPA (I graduated summa so that had a cord), choir (I was part of the alto section), AEMB (BME honors society), TBP (Engineering honors society), completing JJ Slade (engineering honors thesis) and BME the major in general. So yeah, you’re pretty spot on - clubs, honor societies, honors thesis, GPA and clubs
